Abstract Magnetic measurements were conducted on a sample of chemically synthesized Bi1.5Pb0.5Sr1.5Ca1.75Cu2O x using an a.c. susceptometer and a vibrating sample magnetometer. The sample showed a large fraction of the phase with a superconducting onset temperature of 110K. This high-temperature superconducting phase appears to have extremely narrow hysteresis loops above liquid-nitrogen temperatures, showing a small number of eflective flux pinning sites. Below 40 K, a dimpling can be observed in the hysteresis loop under certain conditions.
