Description: The waves generated in high latitudes of the Pacific travel to the continents, mainly affecting the west coast of South America. To have tools in order to prevent the impact of waves, it is necessary to determine the wave climatology; with this purpose it has used wave data from satellites. The domain of study includes the equatorial zone limited between 15°N and 15°S and 78° Wand 110°W. Twenty three years of information from 1992 to 2014 were used. With this data it was possible to calculate a wave climatology. The data showed a latitudinal height distribution, sorted from lowest to highest from north to south, and with greater height values between july and september. Also in this period, extreme weather events such as El Niño and La Niña occurred and it was observed that sometimes, El Niño influenced on wave height, increasing its average value. However, in La Niña event is not observed a relationship with it.
