    Description: The spawning season, fecundity and Lm50% of the Caspian Sea prawn (Palaemon adspersus) were investigated in the coastal waters of Guilan province. A monthly sampling was conducted using a bottom trawl with mesh size 3 mm in cod end in areas 0-5 and 5-10 meters deep during the year 2002. Mean total length, carapace length and weight of ovigerous female of Palaemon adspersus were 51.95±3.1 mm, 13.95+1.9mm and 2.742±0.58g (X ± S.D). Minimum and maximum total length of ovigerous specimens were 37 and 59.3mm with a weight 1.002 and 4.145 grams respectively. We found that the spawning season of Palaemon adspersus begins in April and ends in September with a peak in June. Mean fecundity of the species was 1994.5±506.6. The size at which 50% of females are mature was estimated to be 51.27mm total length.

    Description: Biology aspects of cobia (Rachycentron canadum) were investigated from October 2005 to December 2006 in Northern waters of Persian Gulf (Hormozgan province).The reproduction cycle, sexual maturity, sex ratio, Fecundity, Lm50, feeding, length frequency, growth parameters and mortality of cobia were studied from total of 509 specimens ranged from 19 to 159 fork length. Gonadosomatic index peaked during spring and summer with main peak in June. Spontaneous spawning occurs around the year with peak in June. The overall female to male ratio was significantly 1 : 1.49 (P〈0.05). Batch fecundity were estimated 1684954±118990 in 15 females. Relationship between total length and fecundity were calculated F=1.3717TL 2.9567 (r^2= 0.82). Feeding studies indicated that the bony fishes were main food of cobia (76%) and followed by crustaceans (25%) and mollusks (11%). Rays were least food items (22%). Maximum and Minimum GaSI were observed in March (33%) and August (0.07%) respectively. Females reached 50% sexual maturity at 81.25 cm TL. The total length -weight relationship was W=0.0042L3.1162 (r^2=0.9852). Thetotal length-fork length relationship was TL= 1.1561FL-2.533 (r^2= 0.9933). Growth parameters K, L, and t_0 were calculated by von bertalanfy growth equation: 0.11 (year1), 168.65 cm, 3.49 and -0.97 respectively. The instantons rate of total mortality (z), natural mortality (M) and fishing mortality estimated by catch curve analysis were 0.30, 0.25, 0.14 (year1). Exploitation rate and Tmax were 0.36 and 28 year respectively.

    Description: Monthly samples of Acanthopagrus latus (Houttuyn, 1782) were used to determine (1) feeding habits and (2) reproduction characteristics of the species in relation to its size, spawning season and sex in the northern part of the Persian Gulf from January to December 2013. The smaller length classes of all samples were dominated by male fish. All gonads examined, were ovotestis during the spawning period from February till May. Male and female ovotestes were dimorphic in structure which represented a transitional stage in a protandrous sex change. Length at first sexual maturity of female A. latus was 24.40 cm. A. latus fed predominantly on bivalves, gastropods, cephalopods, stomatopods, fish and decapods which showed changes according to the season and body size. According to our results, it appears that A. latus feeds throughout the year; the highest value of gastrosomatic index (GaSI) for both sexes was recorded in February, which was significantly different from that in other months. The results of this study also indicate that feeding in yellowfin seabream is very intense before reproduction (during January and February). It decreases gradually after February to June during the spawning season.

    Description: Species of cephalopoda and biological characteristics of Sepia pharaonis, were investigated in the fishing grounds of “Goitre" to "Gallak" corresponding to 61.31– 59.30 eastern longitude and 25.10- 25.23 northern latitude respectively. The balk of the study was confined to Chabahar estuary during which 8 cephalopoda species were identified with Sepia pharaonis being the dominant one. Spawning of S. pharapnis occurs between the two southwest and northeast monsoon periods in December and November. Although spring spawning is demonstrated to occur, it is Autumn spawning which contribute mostly to regeneration of S. pharapnis. Water temperature in spawning season varies between 22 to 28.5 degrees centigrade. Fishing season in this area overlaps with spawning or S. pharaonis and in this period they have been found to migrate from deeper waters to shallower waters in littoral zone. The best fishing grounds in Systan-o- Baluchistan province are recognized to be "Ties” and "Pozm". A series of analyses carried out on the meat, ink and cuttlebone of S. pharaonis and the ratio of ingredients were determined.
