Notes: Abstract Using the reactions35Cl(130Ba;4,5n) and36Ar(133Cs;6,7n), the half-lives of160,161Ta were measured to be 1.2(3) and 2.7(2) s, respectively, and theα-lines observed at 4.88(1) and 4.63(1) MeV were assigned to162Ta and163Ta, respectively. Theα-decay branch of162Ta was determined to be 0.065(14)%.

    Notes: Abstract 176,177Ir were produced by irradiation of141Pr with40Ar. β-delayed γ-rays of176,177Ir were observed for the first time. From γγ-coincidence data decay schemes could be constructed. A new half-life of177Ir was obtained yielding t1/2=30 (2) s. α-branching ratios of 3.1(6) % for176Ir and 0.06(1)% for177Ir were measured.

Notes: Abstract Alpha-decay of168W was identified in136Ba(36Ar, 4n) and141Pr(32S, p4n) reactions. The α-ray energy was measured to be 4399 (12) keV. Using the intensity ratio of the simultaneously detected α-and 178.5 keV γ-rays, Iα/Iγ=4.1(6)·10−5 the α-branching is discussed.

Notes: Abstract The neutron-deficient rhenium isotopes166–170Re were investigated using reactions of32S with monoisotopic141Pr targets. Gamma-rays following theβ-decays of166–169Re were measured for the first time. Four newα-rays with energies of 4.70,4.83, 4.87, and 5.02 MeV were detected in addition to the known 5.50, 5.26, and 5.06 MeVα-rays. Alpha-decaying isomer pairs were discovered in167Re and169Re. The measured half-lives are 2.3(2)s for166Re, 3.4(4)s and 6.2(5)s for167Re, 4.4(1)s for168Re, 8.1(5)s and 16.3(8)s for169Re, and 9.2(2)s for170Re. The nuclear structure is discussed in terms of single-particle states.

Description / Table of Contents: Crack Initiation Life Prediction Method for Arbitrary Multiaxial Stresses Based on continuous Damage EvaluationA consideration of arbitrary proportional and non-proportional multiaxial fatigue stresses in the finite life range in crack initiation life predication methods causes still considerable difficulties. In the present investigation a new method has been developed, which led to promissing results as it was applied to a mean stress sensitive high strength aluminium alloy. The new method considers the incremental plastic work that accumulates at each point of a speciman or component which is represented by elastic plastic FEM. In contrast to conventional predication methods the new methods accounts for the instantaneous mean stresses of the stress path in the stress space. From viewpoint of practical application the new method offers advantages because it does not require a definition of damage events like closed hysteresis loops under uniaxial conditions and does not need a special algorithm for the damage events.

Description / Table of Contents: Developments of Fatigue Life Prediction Methods for Components with Multiaxial Stress StatesFor further reductions of the structural weight of modern light weight constructions the explicit consideration of multiaxial stress states becomes increasingly important. In the present paper a survey of prediction methods for the evaluation of the life behaviour close to the endurance limit and in the finite life range is given. A main characteristic of the prediction methods especially for the limited life range is that individual stress-strain events similar to closed hysteresis loops under uniaxial constant amplitude conditions have to be present. In order to overcome this limitation, a new fatigue life evaluation procedure has been developed. The prediction method is based on a threedimensional elastic-plastic finite element model together with the material model after Mróz to account for the elasticplastic material behaviour. The fatigue damage is evaluated on the basis of plastic work using a new incremental damage law. The new method is briefly described.
