    Description / Table of Contents: PdCl2Se6 and PdBr2Se6, New Chalcogenrich Complexes of Palladium(II) Halides with Se6 Groups as LigandsPdCl2Se6 und PdBr2Se6, chalcogenrich complexes of palladium halides with Se6 groups as ligands have been prepared by reactions of Pd metal with melts of selenium and SeX4 (X = Cl, Br) at 180°C in closed silica ampoules. The new compounds have been characterized by vibrational spectra and thermal analysis. The X-ray analysis of PdCl2Se6 showed a polymeric structure, built up by chains of linear PdX2 groups connected by Se6 groups in a chair conformation.
    Notes: PdCl2Se6 und PdBr2Se6, zwei chalkogenreiche Komplexe von Palladium(II)-Halogeniden mit Se6-Gruppen als Liganden, wurden durch Umsetzung von Pd-Metall in Schmelzen aus Selen und SeX4 (X = Cl, Br) bei 180°C in geschlossenen Quarzglasampullen erhalten. Die neuen Verbindungen wurden schwingungsspektroskopisch und thermoanalytisch charakterisiert. Die Röntgenstrukturanalyse von PdCl2Se6 ergab eine polymere Struktur, in der hantelförmige PdX2-Gruppen über Se6-Gruppen mit Sesselkonformation zu Ketten verknüpft sind.

    Description / Table of Contents: trans-PdBr2(SeBr2)2 and cis-PdBr2(TeBr2)2 - New Complexes of Palladium with Chalcogenodibromides as LigandsDark red crystals of the air-stable compound PdSe2Br6 are formed by reaction of the elements in CCl4 at 180°C in sealed silica ampoules. They show triclinic symmetry with space group P1 and lattice constants a = 4.536(1) Å, b = 7.238(1) Å, c = 8.856(2) Å, α = 105.40(3)°, β = 97.86(3)°, γ = 94.50(3)°. The crystal structure is composed of isolated trans-PdBr2(SeBr2)2 molecules which occupy inversion centres. Black crystals of the air-stable compound PdTe2Br6 are formed by reaction of Pd, Te, and TeBr4 in CCl4 at 200°C in sealed silica ampoules. They show monoclinic symmetry with space group P 21/c and the lattice constants a = 15.513(3) Å, b = 8.855(2) Å, c = 18.092(4) Å, β = 114.72(3)°. The crystal structure is composed of cis-PdBr2(TeBr2)2 molecules piled up in the shape of a hexagonal rod packing. Within the piles centrosymmetric dimers are built up with unusual short intermolecular distances Pd-Pd and Te-Br. The structure relations of the hitherto known compounds PdX2(EX2)2 with E = S, Se, Te and X = Cl, Br are discussed.
    Notes: Dunkelrote Kristalle der an Luft stabilen Verbindung PdSe2Br6 entstehen bei Umsetzungen der Elemente in CCl4 bei 180°C in geschlossenen Quarzglasampullen. Sie kristallisieren triklin in der Raumgruppe P1 mit den Gitterkonstanten a = 4,536(1) Å; b = 7,238(1) Å; c = 8,856(2) Å; α = 105,40(3)°; β = 97,86(3)°; γ = 94,50(3)°. Die Kristallstruktur ist aus isolierten trans-PdBr2(SeBr2)2-Molekülen aufgebaut, die Symmetriezentren besetzen. Schwarze Kristalle der luftstabilen Verbindung PdTe2Br6 entstehen bei Umsetzungen von Pd, Te und TeBr4 in CCl4 bei 200°C in geschlossenen Quarzglasampullen. Sie kristallisieren monoklin in der Raumgruppe P 21/c mit den Gitterkonstanten a = 15,513(3) Å; b = 8,855(2) Å; c = 18,092(4) Å; β = 114,72(3)°. Die Kristallstruktur ist aus cis-PdBr2(TeBr2)2-Molekülen aufgebaut, die zentrosymmetrische Paare mit ungewöhnlich kurzen intermolekularen Pd-Pd- und Te-Br- Kontakten bilden. Die Moleküle bilden Stapel, die nach dem Motiv einer hexagonalen Stabpackung angeordnet sind. Die Bindungsverhältnisse bei den bisher bekannten Verbindungen PdX2(EX2)2 mit E = S, Se, Te und X = Cl, Br werden diskutiert.
