    Description / Table of Contents: Contributions to the Proanthocyanidins, XXII.  -  On the Constitution of Condensation Products of Phenols with Flavylium SaltsIn the condensation of phenols with flavylium salts products with two-armed links are formed. The 13C-NMR spectroscopic findings unequivocally prove that the phenol component is bound to the flavanoid pyran ring at C-4 via a C—C bond, and at C-2 via an O - C bond.
    Notes: Bei der Kondensation von Phenolen mit Flavyliumsalzen entstehen zweiarmig verknüpfte Produkte. Die 13C-NMR-spektroskopischen Befunde beweisen eindeutig, daß die Phenol-komponente über eine C—C-Bindung an C-4 und über eine C—O-Bindung an C-2 des Flavanoid-Pyranringes gebunden ist.

    Description / Table of Contents: Elucidation of the Structure of C30H24O12-Procyanidins by 13C-NMR-SpectroscopyThe 13C-NMR spectra of the compounds 1-11 allow definitive differentiation between carbon atoms of the heteroring linking to C and to O. Thus, the spectra of the procyanidins having the formula C30H24O12 - A1 and A2, isolated from cranberries (Vaccinium vitis-idaea) and A2 isolated from the horse chestnut (Aesculus hippocastanum) - show that there is C-C linking to C-4 and C-O bonding to C-2, as illustrated in structure 1.
    Notes: Die 13C-NMR-Spektren der Verbindungen 1-11 erlauben eine eindeutige Unterscheidung zwischen zu C und zu O gebundenen Kohlenstoffatomen im Heteroring. Für die Procyanidine der Zusammensetzung C30H24O12 - A1 und A2 aus der Preiselbeere (Vaccinium vitis-idaea), A2 aus der Roßkastanie (Aesculus hippocastanum) - folgt hieraus die C-C-Verknüpfung nach C-4 und die C-O-Bindung nach C-2 entsprechend Konstitution 1.
