Description / Table of Contents: New Synthesis and 14C-Labelling of Bilirubin-IXαThe condensation of the Mannich base 6 with the α-unsubstituted oxodipyrromethene 2a in presence of dimethylacetylenedicarboxylate gives a mixture of bilirubin-IXα-dimethyl ester (7a) and bilirubin-XIIIα-dimethyl ester (8a) in the ratio of 3 : 1. Radioactive bilirubin-IXα (7, labelled by 14C) has been synthesized by this procedure.
