Crystal Structure and High Temperature Behavior of Zr2ON2Zr2ON2 has been prepared by solid state reaction of ZrO2 with Zr3N4. The crystal structure (Bixbyite-type) was refined using X-ray and neutron powder diffraction methods. The results indicate a nitrogen-oxygen-ordering. As detected by high temperature XRD experiments, Zr2ON2 decomposes at temperatures above 800°C to a fluorite type zirconium oxidenitride phase, nitrogen gas, and ZrN.

Durch Festkörperreaktion von ZrO2 mit Zr3N4 läßt sich Zr2ON2 darstellen. Pulverbeugungsdaten des Zr2ON2 wurden in der Bixbyitstruktur verfeinert. Die erhaltenen Ergebnisse deuten auf das Vorliegen einer Stickstoff-Sauerstoff-Ordnung hin. Zr2ON2 zerfällt bei Temperaturen oberhalb von 800°C in eine Zirconiumoxidnitrid-Phase mit Fluoritstruktur, Stickstoff und ZrN. Die Zersetzungsreaktion wurde mit Röntgenpulvermethoden in situ untersucht.
