Notes: The techniques for the fabrication of a new type of potentiometric scanning electrochemical microscopic tip are described. Ion-concentration profiles generated in electrochemical model experiments, by enzyme catalyzed reaction and corrosion processes, as well as by the electrochemical reduction of zinc ions, have been studied and followed with micropipet ion-selective electrode based probe microscopy. Efforts devoted to developing methods to measure scanning tip-to-target distances are surveyed.
