    Archive of applied mechanics 67 (1996), S. 2-14
    ISSN: 1432-0681
Keywords: asymptotic modeling ; Rossby waves ; rotating waves ; rotating stall ; compressors

Topics: Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Production Engineering, Mining and Metallurgy, Traffic Engineering, Precision Mechanics
Notes: Summary A comparison between meteorological systems and fluid motions through compressors is proposed. A mathematical analysis analogous to the geophysical one emphasizes characteristic dimensions. A dimensionless kinematic parameter, akin to the Rossby number, emerges, and thus leads to the study of different cases. Two kinds of solutions of rotating waves are presented here. The first describes a Rossby wave propagation in compressors, and the second depicts a limit form of part-span stall.

Description: Author(s): V. Bois, P. Fromholz, and P. Lecheminant We investigate the zero-temperature phase diagram of two-orbital SU ( N ) fermionic models at incommensurate filling which are directly relevant to strontium and ytterbium ultracold atoms loading into a one-dimensional optical lattice. Using a low-energy approach that takes into account explicitly the … [Phys. Rev. B 93, 134415] Published Wed Apr 13, 2016
