Notes: Abstract The structure of ajoene, a molecule extracted from garlic, has been studied by 1H-NMR and its interaction with model membranes by 1H-, 2H-, 31-P-NMR and ESR experiments. This study clearly shows that the ajoene molecule is located deep in the layer and is close to the interlayer medium. Moreover while NMR experiments show that the membrane structure is only slightly affected by the presence of ajoene, ESR experiments reveal significant modifications in phospholipid dynamics. This interaction, observed before with the phenothiazine derivative, promazine, results in an increase of the membrane fluidity in its hydrophobic part and could be related to clinical properties of ajoene.

Description: Del 9 al 21 de marzo de 2010, se realizó el Crucero T10/03/01 durante el cual se efectuaron 10 lances de pesca entre 01º21.39' N-03º 02.55' S y entre las longitudes 080º 32.20' W-082º 57.08' W, empleando un palangre de superficie doradero.
Description: From 9 to March 21, 2010, was conducted during the cruise T10/03/01 we performed 10 sets of fishing between 01 º 21.39 'N, 03 º 02.55' S and between longitude 080 º 32.20 'W-082 º 57.08'W, using a surface longline. In the sets made in front of Esmeraldas and Manabi, there were higher catches, specimens with larger size and weight with an average surface temperature of 27 º C and thermocline located between 10 and 50 m deep with the isotherm of 20 º C, depth near the inlet of the fishing line. To the south (sets 7 to 10), located off southern Manabi, Santa Elena Peninsula and Gulf of Guayaquil, the catches were represented by specimens with lower size and weight compared to that recorded in the north, coinciding with an average SST of 25.5 ° C, less defined thermocline and 20 ° C isotherm below the depth of depth. The associated fauna was considered to be discarded and consisted of adult sharks, rays and bony fishes, turtles being at greatest frequency. Most females of gold were found from stage III to IV. From the standpoint of feed, gold is behaving as a specialist predator, flying fish being the most common species on this diet, behavior that did not differentiate between sexes. The nematode Anisakis spp., Was the most common parasite in the gold. Other trematodes and cestodes were identified Dinurus sp. Tentaculaeria sp. and Nybelinia sp.

Description: Del 2 al 14 de marzo de 2008 se realizó el Crucero T08/03/01 durante el cual se efectuaron nueve lances de pesca entre 01°24.5’ N - 03°12.0’ S y entre 081°08.6’ W - 082°56.1’ W, empleando un palangre de superficie doradero.
Description: From 2th to march 14th was conducted the cruise T08/03/01 of 2008, a total of nine fishing haul was made between 01° 24.5 'N - 03° 12.0' S and between 081° 08.6 'W - 082° 56.1 'W, using a surface long line “doradero”. Oceanographically was determined the deepening of the thermocline, which probably favored the entry of ATS throughout the water column to 40 m deep; this would explain the low catches of dolphin fish during this study. The index of abundance identified more effective the hooks number 4 and 5 it means number of species by haul, but in relation to height was not determined differences considering all hooks. The incidental catch (sharks, rays and bony fish ) had a negligible effect if we compare to the small-scale landings. The higher catch in number and weight of dolphinfish were recorded in northern (Province of Esmeraldas). Dolphin fish showed general feedings habits, flying fish (Exocoetus spp.) and squid (Dosidiscus gigas), were the most important prey species. It was recorded the presence of nematode Anisakis spp., and cestodes of TRYPANORHYNCHA order, mainly in the stomach and muscles. The by-catch was considered as discard and composed of adult individuals of sharks, rays and bony fish. The turtles were the group observed most often. No interactions were found between fishing gear with birds and marine mammals.
