Notes: Abstract We present a characterization of the ‘normal’ optimal solution of the linear program given in canonical form max{c tx: Ax = b, x ≥ 0}. (P) We show thatx * is the optimal solution of (P), of minimal norm, if and only if there exists anR 〉 0 such that, for eachr ≥ R, we havex * = (rc − Atλr)+. Thus, we can findx * by solving the following equation forλ r A(rc − Atλr)+ = b. Moreover,(1/r)λ r then ‘converges’ to a solution of the dual program.

Description: Harmonic grid generation methods for multiply connected plane regions and regions on curved surfaces are discussed. In particular, using a general formulation on an analytic Riemannian manifold, it is proved that these mappings are globally one-to-one and onto.

Description: This package is designed to solve some of the elementary problems of spline interpretation and least squares fit. The subroutines fall into three basic categories. The first category involves computations with a given spline and/or knot sequence; the second category involves routines which calculate the coefficients of splines which perform a certain task (such as interpolation or least squares fit); and the last category is a banded equation solver for specific linear equations.
