Description:
Measurements have been made of the electron momentum modulation resulting from the inverse Cerenkov interaction with laser light. The experiment utilized 40-MeV particles and a 30-MW Nd:YAG laser. Results are given for the harmonic content of the electron beam as a function of distance along the z-axis, electron bunching for the ideal case, and electron current at the laser frequency normalized to the dc current as a function of distance along the z-axis.
