From the corresponding chlorides and ammonia, the nitrides of boron, aluminum, gallium, and indium have been prepared in coarsely crystalline state by means of the van Arkel - de Boer process. The nitrides being extremely resistant against chemical reagents are semiconductors; the electric conductivities increase from BN, AIN, GaN to InN.

Aus den entsprechenden Chloriden und Ammoniak werden die Nitride von Bor, Aluminium, Gallium und Indium in kompakten Zustand durch Anwendung des Aufwachsverfahrens erhalten. Es sind chemisch außerordentlich resistente Körper. Ihre elektrische Leitfähigkeit nimmt in der Reihenfolge BN, AIN, GaN, InN zu; InN ist bereits ein guter Leiter. Sämtliche Nitride besitzen Halbleitercharakter.
