Description / Table of Contents:
The RbBO2 and CsBO2 hydrates and their dehydratation products have been investigated.RbBO2 · 4H2O is primarily dehydrated to an 1⅓-hydrate (hitherto described as 1½-and 1¼-hydrate, resp.) which is then converted into an ⅓-hydrate and finally, at about 170°C, into anhydrous RbBO2. Rehydratation probably yields first a monohydrate, RbBO2 · H2O, and then the 1⅓-hydrate. RbBO2, its 1⅓- and ⅓-hydrate are isotypic with the corresponding K salts, analogous constitution formulae (see „Inhaltsübersicht“) are therefore proposed. In the system CsBO2-H2O, at room temperature a 4-hydrate occurs as the solid phase, and at 80°C an 1-hydrate which is also accessable by dehydratation of the 4-hydrate at ∼ 20°C. Being quickly heated up to above 300°C, the monohydrate yields anhydrous CsBO2, whereas on slow isobaric decomposition a glassy product results which releases at 650°C gaseous Cs2O, contrary to the behaviour of CsBO2.
Notes:
