Diese Daten und entsprechende aus Literaturangaben für andere Schwefelverbindungen wurden mit Hilfe des Punktladungs-Modells unter Verwendung von CHELEQ-Atomladungen berechnet. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, daß die Bindung in einer großen Anzahl von Schwefelverbindungen unter alleiniger Verwendung von s und p Vaienceorbitalen erklärt werden kann. Die niedrigen 1s Bindungsenergien des Fluors, die beim NSF3 und OSF2 beobachtet werden, werden auf nicht bindende Resonanz-Strukturen zurückgeführt.
    Notes: Core electron binding energies were measured for the atoms in NSF3, SF5Cl, and S2Cl2. These data and similar data from the literature for other sulfur compounds were correlated by the point charge potential method using CHELEQ atomic charges. The results indicate that the bonding in a wide variety of sulfur compounds can be explained using only s and p valence orbitals. The low fluorine 1s bonding energies observed for NSF3 and OSF2 are attributed to “no-bond” resonance structures.
