XIX Formation and Identification of Stable Intermediates on the Reaction of Fluoride with Phosphorus OxychlorideBy reaction of POCl3 with fluorides of tertiary amines in the presence of the free amines the oxo-fluorophosphates [F2P(O—O—PF5)]-, [OPF5]2-, and [OPF4]- are formed as intermediates on the way to [PF6]-. The compounds were characterized by NMR spectroscopy.
    Notes: Bei der Reaktion von POCl3 mit Fluoriden tertiärer Ammoniumbasen in nichtwäßriger, basischer Lösung werden als Zwischenprodukte auf dem Weg zum [PF6]- das Heptafluorodiphosphat [F2P(O)—O—PF5]- sowie die Oxofluorophosphate [OPF5]2- und [OPF4]- gebildet und NMR-spektroskopisch charakterisiert.

    Description / Table of Contents: Reaction of the Two-component Systems P(OR)3 - x(NR2)x (x = 0-3)/CCl4 and P4/CCl4 with HF-DonatorsThe combination of organylammonium fluorides and carbon tetrachloride is a good agent for oxidative fluorination of trivalent phosphorus compounds. As oxidation products [(RO)PF5]- and (RO)2P(O)F are obtained from P(OR)3, (Et2N)2P(O)F and (Et2N)2(EtO)PF2 from P(OEt)(NEt2)2 as well as (Et2N)3PF2 and [(Et2N)3PF]+ from P(NEt2)3. In the system R2NH/CCl4/Et3N · n HF P4 is fast oxidized forming [HPF5]-, R2NH · PF5 and (R2N)2P(O)F. In the case of simultaneous addition of alcohols [(RO)PF5]-, (RO)3PO and (R2N)2P(O)F are formed. The reactions are controlled by the nucleophilic power and the concentration of fluoride, the acidity of the system, and the temperature.
    Notes: Die Kombination von Organylammoniumfluoriden mit Tetrachlorkohlenstoff stellt ein gutes Agens zur oxydativen Fluorierung von trivalenten Phosphorverbindungen dar. Aus P(OR)3 werden als Oxydationsprodukte [(RO)PF5]- und (RO)2P(O)F, aus P(OEt)(NEt2)2 (Et2N)2P(O)F und (Et2N)2(EtO)PF2 und aus P(NEt2)3 (Et2N)3PF2 und [(Et2N)3PF]+ erhalten. P4 wird im System R2NH/CCl4/Et3N · n HF in kurzer Zeit zu [HPF5]-, R2NH · PF5 und (R2N)2P(O)F abgebaut. Bei gleichzeitigem Alkoholzusatz entstehen [(RO)PF5]-, (RO)3PO und (R2N)2P(O)F. Die Reaktionen sind über die Nukleophilie und Konzentration der Fluoridionen, die Acidität der Systeme und die Temperatur steuerbar.

Amine anstelle von Hexafluorophosphaten, PF6-, PF5-Amin-Addukte, PF5 · HNR2, und bei zusätzlicher Anwesenheit von Alkoholen bzw. Phenol, Alkoxy- bzw. Aroxypentafluorophosphate, ROPF5-, erhalten. Die PF5-Amin-Addukte setzen sich mit Alkoholen oder Arylaminen zu ROPF5- bzw. Arylimidopentafluorophosphaten, ArNHPF5-, um.

XVIII A New Way to Hexafluorophosphates  -  the System Aqueous Hydrogen Fluoride/Acetic Anhydride as a Fluorinating AgentHexafluorophosphates can be obtained in a simple way by the reaction of phosphates with aqueous hydrogen fluoride in the presence of acetic anhydride. The yields with regard to phosphorus are 80% and to hydrogen fluoride more than 70%. It is advantageous first to prepare the hexafluorophosphoric acid, followed by the conversion into the corresponding salts in a second step.
    Notes: Hexafluorophosphate lassen sich in einfacher Weise durch Einwirkung von Acetanhydrid auf Lösungen von Phosphaten in wäßriger Flußsäure erhalten. Die Ausbeuten erreichen bis 80% des eingesetzten Phosphors bei über 70% Ausnutzung der Flußsäure. Besonders vorteilhaft ist die primäre Darstellung der freien Hexafluorophosphorsäure und ihre anschließende Umwandlung in die gewünschten Salze.

    Description / Table of Contents: Direct Synthesis of Trialk(ar)yl Phosphites and Trialk(ar)yl Trithiophosphites from Elemental PhosphorusIn the presence of triethylamine trialk(ar)yl phosphites, P(OR)3, and trialk(ar)yl trithiophosphites, P(SR)3, (R = alk, ar) can be produced in good yields by treating elemental phosphorus, P4, with CCl4 and alcohols or thiols, resp., in dipolar-aprotic solvents. Whereas. Whereas in the reaction with alcohols the P4 degradation happens according to scheme 1, the reaction with thiols occurs via the intermediate formation of disulfanes, R2S2, which then react with P4 forming the trithiophosphites (eqs. (6) and (7)).
    Notes: In dipolar-aprotischen Lösungsmitteln lassen sich Trialk(ar)ylphosphite und -trithiophosphite, P(OR)3 bzw. P(SR)3 (R = Alk, Ar), in guten Ausbeuten durch die Umsetzung von P4 mit CCl4 und Alkoholen bzw. Thiolen in Gegenwart von Triethylamin herstellen. Während der P4-Abbau in der Reaktion mit den Alkoholen entsprechend Schema 1 erfolgt, verläuft die Reaktion mit den Thiolen über die intermediäre Bildung von Disulfanen, R2S2, die ihrerseits mit P4 zu den Trithiophosphiten reagieren (Gl. (6) und (7)).
