    Notes: Polyol Metal Complexes, XII[1].  -  Synthesis and Structure of Cobalt(III) Complexes with Doubly Deprotonated Anhydroerythritol, Methyl α-DMannopyranoside, and Methyl α-DGalactopyranosideThe polyols anhydroerythritol (AnEryt), methyl α-D-mannopyranoside (Me-α-D-Manp), and methyl α-D-galactopyrano-side (Me-α-DGalp) are deprotonated twice to form the cobalt(III) complexes [(en)2Co(AnErytH-2)]I (1), δ-[(en)2- Co(Me-α-DManp3,4H-2)]ClO4 · NaClO4 · 2H2O (2), and δ-[(en)2Co(Me-α-DGalp2,3H-2)]ClO4·H2O (3), resp., in aqueous, alkaline solutions of trans-[(en)2CoCl2]Cl. The crystal structures of 1-3 have been determined by X-ray diffraction.

    Description / Table of Contents: Polyol Metal Complexes. 25. rac-Mannose, rac-Arabitol and L-Threitol as Deprotonated Ligands in Ferrates(III)Ba2[Fe2(β-rac-ManfH-5)2] · 12H2O (1), Sr4[Fe4(rac-Arab1,2,3,5H-4)4(OH)2]CO3 · 33 H2O (2), and Ba2[Fe2(L-ThreH-4)2(OH)2] · 12.5 H2O (3) (Man = mannose, Arab = arabitol, Thre = threitol) have been crystallized from alkaline aqueous solution. Crystal structure analysis revealed dinuclear ferrate(III) ions for 1 and 3, the former being a Ci-symmetrical homoleptic ferric complex with pentadentate pentaanions derived from racemic β-mannofuranose. In 3, besides tetradentate L-threitolato ligands, there is one terminal hydroxo ligand at each ferric center. Hydroxo ligands are also present in the Ci-symmetrical hexaanions of 2, which are tetranuclear planar entities built up from four edge-sharing FeO6 octahedra. However arabitol is a pentitol, the tetraanionic ligands are only tetradentate for steric reasons.
    Notes: Ba2[Fe2(β-rac-ManƒH-5)2] · 12 H2O (1), Sr4[Fe4(rac-Arab1,2,3,5H-4)4(OH)2]CO3 · 33H2O (2) und Ba2[Fe2(L-ThreH-4)2(OH)2] · 12,5 H2O (3) (Man = Mannose, Arab = Arabit, Thre = Threit) wurden aus wäßrig-alkalischer Lösung kristallisiert. 1 und 3 enthalten Diferrat(III)-Tetraanionen, die sich im homoleptischen, Ci-symmetrischen Mannosekomplex 1 von fünffach deprotonierter β-rac-Mannofuranose ableiten, die als fünfzähniger Ligand vorliegt. In 3 tritt zu den vierzähnigen Tetraanionen des L-Threits an jedem Eisen(III)-Zentrum ein endständiger Hydroxoligand hinzu. Auch in 2 mit vierzähnigen rac-Arabit-Tetraanionen als Liganden wird oktaedrische Umgebung der FeIII-Zentren durch terminale Hydroxoliganden erreicht; mit dem als Folge seiner Konfiguration nur vierzähnigen Pentit wird ein ebenes Vierkern-Hexaanion durch Kantenverknüpfung von vier FeO6-Oktaedern aufgebaut.

Crystalline Iron(III) Complexes with Twofold Deprotonated Anhydroerythritol LigandsThree new crystalline ferrates(III) with diolato ligands derived from anhydroerythritol by deprotonation have been synthesized from wet alcoholic and from aqueous solution. Almost colourless, monoclinic crystals of Na2[Fe(AnEryt-H-2)2(OH)] · 0.5 NaNO3 · 3.5 H2O (1) have been prepared from ethanolic solutions. They content mononuclear bis diolato hydroxo ferrate(III) dianions. Trinuclear hexakis diolato μ3-methoxo triferrat(III) tetraanions constitute the anionic part of Na4[Fe3(AnErytH-2)6(OMe)] · 2.5 NaNO3 (2), yellow-green hexagonal crystals of which are formed from wet methanolic solutions. Yellow-green triclinic crystals of Ba2[Fe2(AnEryt-H-2)4(μ-OH)2] · 12 H2O (3) have been precipitated from aqueous solutions. In 3, the anions of 1 are dimerized to give tetrakis diolato di-μ-hydroxo diferrat(III) tetraanions.
    Notes: Drei neue kristalline Ferrate(III) mit doppelt deprotoniertem Anhydroerythrit als Diolato-Liganden wurden aus wasserhaltigem Medium hergestellt. Nahezu farblose, monokline Kristalle von Na2[Fe(AnErytH-2)2(OH)] · 0,5 NaNO3 · 3,5 H2O (1) werden aus wasserhaltigem Ethanol erhalten. Sie enthalten einkernige Bis-diolato-hydroxo-ferrat(III)-Dianionen. Dreikernige Hexakis-diolato-μ3-methoxo-triferrat(III)-Tetraanionen sind in Na4[Fe3(AnErytH-2)6(OMe)] · 2,5 NaNO3 (2) enthalten, das aus wasserhaltigem Methanol in Form hexagonaler, grüngelber Platten kristallisiert. Aus wäßrigen Diolatoferrat-Lösungen bilden sich grüngelbe, trikline Kristalle von Ba2[Fe2(AnErytH-2)4(μ-OH)2] · 12 H2O (3), in dem die Anionen von 1 in dimerer Form vorliegen, nämlich als zweikernige Tetrakis-diolato-di-μ-hydroxo-diferrat(III)-Tetraanionen.
