Description / Table of Contents:
Some Properties and Reactions of DimethyloxosulfoniummethylideSalt-free (CH3)2S(O)=CH2 shows rapidly fluctuating hydrogen atoms, according to n.m.r. investigations, and its carbanionic-center is localized at trigonal-planar CH2 groups. Its reaction with methanol, which leads to a weak adduct, is fully reversible. With metal alkyls and halides stable complexes are obtained, which are ascribed partly an ionic, partly a coordination polymer structure. The reagents employed were CuCl, AgCl (or their phosphine complexes), CuCH2Si(CH3)3, Zn(C2H5)2, Cd(CH3)2, Cd[CH2Si(CH3)3]2, C2H5ZnCl, CH3CdCl, CH3HgCl, HgCl2, (CH3)3Tl, and (CH3)2TlCl.
Notes:
