    Notes: In einem modifizierten Stoßwellenbrenner wird flüssiger Schwefel verdüst, mit Luft gemischt und bei etwa 1200 bis 1500°C verbrannt. Man erzielt ein Brennergas mit 18 bis 20% SO2, das für die weitere Verarbeitung (Herstellung von Sulfitlauge, Verflüssigung und Gewinnung von sauerstoff-freiem SO2) wesentlich günstiger ist als die geringer konzentrierten Röstgase.
