251.1 pm.
Notes: The novel compounds Sr13NbAs11 and Eu13NbAs11 have been synthesized from SrAs, Eu5As4, Sr, Nb and As in niobium ampoules at 1173-1273 K. The tetragonal tI 200 phases are defect variants of the Ca14AlSb11 structure (space group I41/acd (no. 142); Sr13□NbAs11: a = 1649.8(2) and c = 2214.1(3); Eu13□NbAs11: a = 1632.9(8) and c = 2197.3(8) pm; Z = 8). The structures are built from the cations Sr2+, and Eu2+, respectively, and from the anions [NbAs4]7-, As3-, and the linear polyanion [As3]7-. This polyanion (isosteric to I3-) is asymmetric with d(As—As) = 273.0 and 346.0 pm (Sr) and 274.7 and 335.6 pm (Eu), respectively. The bond lengths in the tetrahedral anions are d(Nb—As) = 250.8 and 251.1 pm. The complete structural arrangement is related to that of Cu2O by forming two interpenetrating networks. The oxygen atoms are substituted by niobium centered As4 tetrahedra, and the Cu atoms are substituted by As6 octahedra (centered by Sr, Eu). The central As atoms of the polyanions connect the nets. Both As networks are enveloped by the remaining cations forming cubes, tetragonal antiprisms and capped trigonal prisms.

Description / Table of Contents: The Thermal Behaviour of Aluminium Fluoridehydroxide Hydrate AlF2.3(OH)0.7(H2O)The thermal decomposition of AlF2,3(OH)0,7(H2O) depends strongly on the partial pressure of the gaseous reaction products and proceeds in three overlapping steps, namely dehydratation, formation of x-ray amorphous Al2O3 and metastable β-AlF3, and formation of α-AlF3 and α-Al2O3. Beside that an exchange of F/OH takes place. The vaporization is mainly determined by the crucible type and pressure conditions, as shown by simultaneous TG-MS measurements too. Main gaseous species are H2O and HF. The gas complexes HAlF4, and H2AlF5 are observed.

Description / Table of Contents: Synthesis, Crystal Structure and Spectroscopic Properties of the Cluster Anions [(Mo6Br8i)X6a]2- with Xa = F, Cl, Br, IThe tetrabutylammonium (TBA), tetraphenylphosphonium (TPP) and tetraphenylarsonium (TPAs) salts of the octa-μ3-bromo-hexahalogeno-octahedro-hexamolybdate(2-) anions [(Mo6Br8i)X6a]2- (Xa = F, Cl, Br, I) are synthesized from solutions of the free acids H2[(Mo6Br8i)X6a] · 8 H2O with Xa = Cl, Br, I. The crystal structures show systematic stretchings in the Mo—Mo bond length and a slight compression of the Bri8 cube in the Fa to Ia series. The cations do not change much. The i.r. and Raman spectra show at 10 K almost constant frequencies of the (Mo6Bri8) cluster vibrations, whereas all modes with Xa ligand contribution are characteristically shifted. The most important bands are assigned by polarization measurements and the force constants are derived from normal coordinate analysis. The 95Mo nmr signals are shifted to lower field with increasing electronegativity of the Xa ligands. The fluorine compound shows a sharp 19F nmr singlet at -184.5 ppm.
