Description:
This review covers the relationship between remotely sensed microwave data and data obtained in situ or from earth-based remote-sensing systems, both for validation of algorithms and as supplemental information for deriving a geophysical quantity. Parameters obtained from satellite microwave radiometers, the Scanning Multichannel Microwave Radiometer, and the Special Sensor Microwave Imager are emphasized. These include sea-surface temperature and wind speed, integrated atmospheric water vapor, cloud liquid water, and rain rate.
