Notes: Summary Fusiform cambial cells of the ash (Fraxinus excelsior L.), which are strongly elongated and vacuolated, contain a phragmosome which traverses the whole length of the cells during preprophase and karyokinesis and which remains present during cytokinesis until it is integrated in cell plate with adjacent cytoplasm. The phragmosome consists of a thin perforated cytoplasmic layer located in the plane of the future cell plate. Otherwise oriented transvacuolar cytoplasmic layers or strands are not present in these cells. The phragmosome contains cytoskeletal elements, namely microtubules and also microfilament bundles both of which are oriented mainly in longitudinal direction. The phragmosomal microtubules are a new category of microtubules associated with cell division; presumably they guide the centrifugally growing cell plate to the parental cell wall site previously marked by the preprophase band of microtubules.

Notes: Abstract The inhibition of ATP synthesis, proton uptake, and electron transport (basal, phosphorylating, and uncoupled) from water to methylviologen by zaluzanin C indicates that it acts as an electron transport inhibitor. Uncoupled photosystem I electron transport rate was not affected by zaluzanin C; however, uncoupled photosystem II electron flow from water to 2,3,5,6-tetramethyl phenylenediamine and from water to silicomolybdate was inhibited, but electron transport from diphenylcarbazide to silicomolybdate was not affected. We conclude that the site of inhibition by zaluzanin C is located at the oxygen evolution level.

Notes: Experimental results of the formation of methane hydrate in dependence of temperature and pressure in unsaturated solutions of NaCl in water will be presented in a temperature range from 261.85 to 285.98 K and pressure up to 11.0 MPa. Furthermore the four-phase equilibrium NaCl·2H2Os— CH4·nH2Os—L—G has been calculated from the experimental results. Also the heats of transformation of several other equilibria in the ternary system CH4—H2O—NaCl are obtained.
