Description: Author(s): Marcello Calvanese Strinati, Leonardo Mazza, Manuel Endres, Davide Rossini, and Rosario Fazio We investigate the evolution of string order in a spin-1 chain following a quantum quench. After initializing the chain in the Affleck-Kennedy-Lieb-Tasaki state, we analyze in detail how string order evolves as a function of time at different length scales. The Hamiltonian after the quench is chosen… [Phys. Rev. B 94, 024302] Published Tue Jul 05, 2016

Description: Author(s): Leonardo Mazza, Davide Rossini, Manuel Endres, and Rosario Fazio We investigate the equilibration dynamics of string order in one-dimensional quantum systems. After initializing a spin-1 chain in the Haldane phase, the time evolution of nonlocal correlations following a sudden quench is studied by means of matrix-product-state-based algorithms. Thermalization occ... [Phys. Rev. B 90, 020301] Published Fri Jul 11, 2014

Description: Author(s): Silvia Pappalardi, Angelo Russomanno, Bojan Žunkovič, Fernando Iemini, Alessandro Silva, and Rosario Fazio We study scrambling in connection with multipartite entanglement dynamics in regular and chaotic long-range spin chains, characterized by a well-defined semi-classical limit. For regular dynamics, scrambling and entanglement dynamics are found to be very different: up to the Ehrenfest time, they ris... [Phys. Rev. B 98, 134303] Published Mon Oct 08, 2018

Description: Author(s): Fabian Schrodi, Pietro Silvi, Ferdinand Tschirsich, Rosario Fazio, and Simone Montangero We present a technique to compute the microcanonical thermodynamical properties of a many-body quantum system using tensor networks. The density of States, and more general spectral properties, are evaluated by means of a Hubbard-Stratonovich transformation performed on top of a real-time evolution,... [Phys. Rev. Description: Author(s): Angelo Russomanno, Fernando Iemini, Marcello Dalmonte, and Rosario Fazio In this work we discuss the existence of time-translation symmetry breaking in a kicked infinite-range-interacting clean spin system described by the Lipkin-Meshkov-Glick model. This Floquet time crystal is robust under perturbations of the kicking protocol, its existence being intimately linked to ... [Phys. Rev. B 95, 214307] Published Thu Jun 22, 2017

Description: Author(s): Luca Arceci, Simone Barbarino, Rosario Fazio, and Giuseppe E. Santoro We revisit here the issue of thermally assisted Quantum Annealing by a detailed study of the dissipative Landau-Zener problem in the presence of a Caldeira-Leggett bath of harmonic oscillators, using both a weak-coupling quantum master equation and a quasiadiabatic path-integral approach. Description: Air transportation is critical to U.S. and Global economic vitality. However, energy and climate issues challenge aviations ability to be sustainable in the long term. Aviation must dramatically reduce fuel use and related emissions. Energy costs to U.S. airlines nearly tripled between 1995 and 2011, and continue to be the highest percentage of operating costs. The NASA Advanced Air Transports Technology Project addresses the comprehensive challenge of enabling revolutionary energy efficiency improvements in subsonic transport aircraft combined with dramatic reductions in harmful emissions and perceived noise to facilitate sustained growth of the air transportation system. Advanced technologies and the development of unconventional aircraft systems offer the potential to achieve these improvements. The presentation will highlight the NASA vision of revolutionary systems and propulsion technologies needed to achieve these challenging goals. Specifically, the primary focus is on the N+3 generation; that is, vehicles that are three generations beyond the current state of the art, requiring mature technology solutions in the 2025-30 timeframe, which are envisioned as being powered by Hybrid Electric Propulsion Systems.
