Model Studies for the Synthesis of Ribbon-Shaped Structures by Repetitive Diels-Alder ReactionThe multicyclic, quinoid aromatic compounds 8 and 10-14 are prepared in very high yields in most cases. Caused by the substitution with flexible alkyl chains, these compounds are soluble and thus characterizable, including the 15- and 19-ring systems 13 and 14. The bisdiene precursor 6 and the bisdiene 2 seem to be appropriate building blocks for the synthesis of soluble, ribbonshaped polymers by repetitive Diels-Alder reactions.

Die multicyclischen, chinoiden Aromaten 8 und 10-14 werden in meist sehr hohen Ausbeuten dargestellt. Aufgrund der Substitution mit flexiblen Alkyl-Ketten sind diese Verbindungen, selbst die 15- bzw. 19-Ringsysteme 13 und 14 gut löslich und damit charakterisierbar. Der Bisdien-Vorläufer 6 und das Bisdien 2 bieten sich als Bausteine für die Synthese löslicher Bandpolymerer über repetitive Diels-Alder-Reaktionen an.
