    Description / Table of Contents: Sulphito Cobalt (III) Ammines. I. Sulphitopentaamminecobalt (III) and Sulphitoaquotetraamminecobalt(III) SaltsBecause of the trans effect of the sulphito group salts containing the cation [CoSO3(NH3)5]+ react with H2O forming [CoSO3H2O(NH3)4]+. In acid medium the conversion is complete. Therefore, sulphitopentaamminecobalt(III) salts have to be prepared and purified in solutions containing free ammonia. Earlier preparation methods not regarding this circumstance lead to tetraammine compounds or to mixture of pentaammine and tetraammine complexes.The preparation and the properties of a number of sulphitopentaammine and sulphito-aquotetraamminecobalt(III) salts are described (see “Inhaltsübersicht”). The light absorption and the IR spectra of the complexes [CoSO3(NH3)5]+ and [CoSO3H2O(NH3)4]+ are reported and discussed.
    Notes: [CoSO3(NH3)5]+-Salze reagieren infolge des trans-Effektes der SO3-Gruppe bereits mit Wasser unter teilweiser Bildung von [CoSO3H2O(NH3)4]+. In saurem Medium ist die Umwandlung vollständig. Zur Darstellung und Reinigung der Sulfitopentammine muß daher stets in ammoniakalischem Medium gearbeitet werden. Ältere Darstellungsvorschriften, in denen dies nicht beachtet wurde, ergeben Tetrammine oder Pentammin-Tetrammin-Gemische.Darstellung und Eigenschaften von [CoSO3(NH3)5]Cl · H2O, [CoSO3(NH3)5]Br · H2O, [CoSO3(NH3)5]J · 1/2 H2O, [CoSO3(NH3)5]ClO4, [CoSO3(NH3)5]2SO4 · 2 H2O und [CoSO3(NH3)5]SCN · H2O werden beschrieben. Ferner werden die bisher nicht erhaltenen Komplexe [CoSO3H2O(NH3)4]Br, [CoSO3H2O(NH3)4]2SO4 und [CoSO3H2O(NH3)4]ClO4 dargestellt. Die Lichtabsorptions- und Schwingungsspektren von [CoSO3(NH3)5]+ und [CoSO3H2O(NH3)4]+ werden angegeben und diskutiert.

IV. μ-Sulphito-di-μ-hydroxo-bis[triammine-cobalt(III)] SaltsThe first, binuclear Co(III) complex containing SO32- as a bridging ligand. [Co2{SO3(OH)2}(NH3)6]2+ has been obtained. Bromide, iodide, nitrate and dithionate of the series have been prepared.The UV and IR spectra indicate, that SO32- ligand is bonded to the cobalt atoms through two oxygen atoms.
    Notes: Als erster zweikerniger Kobalt(III)-Komplex mit Sulfit als Brückenligand wurde [Co2{SO3(OH)2}(NH3)6]2+ aus [Co2{OH}3(NH3)6]3+ und SO2 dargestellt. Isoliert wurden [Co2{SO3(OH)2}(NH3)6]Br2, [Co2{SO3(OH)2}(NH3)6]J2, [Co2{SO3(OH)2} (NH3)6](NO3)2. H2O und [Co2{SO)3(OH}2}(NH3)6]S2O6.Aus den UR- und UV-Spektren der Komplexe wird der Schluß gezogen, daß der Sulfitrest über zwei Sauerstoffatome an die Kobaltatome gebunden ist.

    Description / Table of Contents: The complexes [Co(NH3)5CN]X2 with X = Cl, Br, NO3, ClO4 or 1/2 SO4 are described. With Ag(I) and Hg(II) ions, supercomplexes are formed. The light absorption in the visible, ultraviolet and infrared region has been measured.
    Notes: Die bisher nicht bekannten Komplexe [Co(NH3)5CN]X2 werden beschrieben. Dargestellt wurden Chlorid, Bromid, Sulfat, Nitrat und Perchlorat. Mit Silber- und Quecksilber(II)-salzen werden Überkomplexe gebildet. Die Lichtabsorption im Sichtbaren, Ultraviolett und Ultrarot wird gemessen und diskutiert.

    Description / Table of Contents: K4J2O9 crystallizes in the space group P 63/m mc with a0 = 6.21 Å, c0 = 15.36 Å and Z = 2. The crystal structure has been determined by PATTERSON methods and refined three-dimensionally by the method of least squares to a final R1 = 0.054. In the anion J2O94- the iodine atoms are surrounded octahedrally by six oxygen atoms each; the two coordination octahedra have a face in common.RAMAN and infrared spectra of the K4J2O9 have been measured and discussed.
    Notes: K4J2O9 kristallisiert in der Raumgruppe P 63/m mc mit a0 = 6,21 Å, c0 = 15,36 Å und Z = 2. Die Kristallstruktur wurde mit Hilfe von PATTERSON-Methoden bestimmt. Eine Verfeinerung mit der Methode der kleinsten Quadrate ergab einen R1-Wert von 0,054. In dem Anion J2O94- sind die Jodatome oktaedrisch von je sechs Sauerstoffatomen umgeben; die Koordinationsoktaeder sind paarweise über eine Fläche zu Bioktaedern verknüpft.RAMAN- und Ultrarotspektrum des K4J2O9 werden angegeben und diskutiert.

    Description / Table of Contents: Dodekammine-hexahydroxo-tetracobalt(III) complexes react with CN- forming red salts with the cation [Co3(NH3)8(OH)4(CN)2] 3+. The chloride, bromide, perchlorate, nitrate and dithionate of this cation have been prepared. The CN ligands are shown to be coordinated to the central Co atom; the OH groups form bridges.By reaction with NO-2 these complexes form orange coloured salts containing the cation [Co3(NH3)8(OH)2(NO2)2 (CN)2]3+, where the NO2 groups are in bridging positions. Of this cation, the chloride, bromide, nitrate and perchlorate have been prepared, the latter as a double salt with 1 mole of NaClO4.The absorption spectra of the new complexes and of the [Co4(NH3)12(OH)6]6+ ion in the infrared, visible and ultraviolet region are communicated and discussed.
    Notes: Dodekammin-hexahydroxo-tetrakobalt(III)-Komplexe reagieren mit CN- unter Bildung von roten Salzen mit dem Kation [Co3(NH3)8(OH)4(CN)2] 3+. Dargestellt wurden das Chlorid, Bromid, Perchlorat, Nitrat und Dithionat dieses Kations. Es wird gezeigt, daß die CN-Liganden sich am mittleren Co-Atom befinden, die OH-Gruppen fungieren als Brücken.Bei der Reaktion mit NO-2 entstehen aus diesen Komplexen organgefarbene Salze mit dem Kation [Co3(NH3)8(OH)2(NO2)2 (CN)2]3+, in welchem die NO2-Gruppen Brücken bilden. Von dieser Reihe wurden das Chlorid, Bromid und Nitrat dargestellt, ferner das Perchlorat, welches als Doppelsalz mit 1 Mol NaClO4 kristallisiert.Die Absorptionsspektren der neuen Komplexe und des [Co4(NH3)12 (OH)6]6+ im UR, Sichtbaren und UV werden angegeben und diskutiert.
