Die quadratische planare Struktur der Komplexe ergab sich aus IR- und elektronischen Spektren in Verbindung mit Messungen der magnetischen Suszeptibilität. Die Reihenfolge der thermischen Stabilität der Chelate wurde aus TG-Thermogrammen ermittelt und ergab \documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document}$ {\rm Co (II) 〉 Ni(II) 〉 Cu(II)}. $\end{document} Wie festgestellt wurde, erhöhen die Co(II)- und Ni(II)-Chelate ihre Koordinationszahl durch Reaktion mit Pyridin, das oberhalb und unterhalb des planaren Quadrats koordiniert wird. Der entstehende Komplex hat oktaedrische Struktur. Zur Bestimmung der Feldparameter wurde die Ligandenfeldtheorie benutzt.
    Notes: Chelate polymers of Cu(II), Ni(II) and Co(II) with bis-oxime of 5,5′-methylene bis(salicylaldehyde) have been prepared. The square-planar structure of the complexes was determined on the basis of infrared and electronic spectral measurements in conjunction with magnetic susceptibility measurements. The thermal stability of the chelates, obtained from the TG thermograms has the following order: \documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document}$ {\rm Co (II) 〉 Ni(II) 〉 Cu(II)}. $\end{document} Co(II) and Ni(II) chelates are found to increase their coordination number by interaction with pyridine at right angles to the plane of the parent molecule. The resulting complex is found to have octahedral structure. The ligand-field and nephelauxetic parameters have been determined from the spectra, using ligand-field theory of spin-allowed transitions which are found consistent with six-coordinate structure for these adducts.

Alle Polychelate sind tief gefärbt und unlöslich in herkömmlichen organischen Lösungsmitteln. Oktaedrische Strukturen für die Polychelate wurden auf der Grundlage von Elektronenspektren und magnetischer Suszeptibilität in Verbindung mit IR-Untersuchungen vorgeschlagen. Alle Polychelate sind Nichtelektrolyte. Die thermische Stabilität der Polychelate wurde aus thermogravimetrischen Untersuchungen bestimmt.
    Notes: Chelate polymers of Cr(III), Fe(III), Fe(II), Co(II), Ni(II), and Cu(II) with the schiff base of 4,4′-(4,4′-biphenylylene bisazo)di(salicylaldehyde) with p-toluidine have been prepared. All the polychelates are dark coloured and insoluble in common organic solvents. The octahedral structures of the polychelates were suggested on the basis of electronic spectra and magnetic susceptibility measurements in conjunction with infra-red measurements. All polychelates are non-electrolytes. The thermal stability of all the polychelates was determined from their thermogravimetric analyses.

Für alle Polychelate wird eine oktahedrische Struktur angenommen. Die Reihenfolge der thermischen Stabilität aller Polychelate wurde aus thermogravimetrischen Analysen ermittelt.
    Notes: Mn(II)-, Co(II)-, Ni(II)-, and Zn(II)-polychelates of 4,4′-(4,4′-Biphenylylenebisazo)-di(2-hydroxy acetophenone oxime) have been synthesized and characterized on the basis of their physicochemical properties. An octahedral structure is suggested for all the polychelates. The order of thermal stability for all the polychelates was determined from their thermogravimetric analyses.

Alle Chelatpolymere sind amorph und unlöslich in herkömmlichen organischen Lösungsmitteln. Sie haben eine sehr geringe Löslichkeit in DMF. Die ersten drei Polychelate erwiesen sich als ungeladene Chelatpolymere, während die beiden letzten Polychelate sich infolge ihrer Leitfähigkeiten in DMF als ionisch erwiesen. Ihre möglichen Strukturen wurden durch Reflexionsspektroskopie und magnetische Messungen in Verbindung mit IR-Messungen ermittelt. Die thermische Stabilität, Reaktionsordnung und Aktivierungsenergie wurde für alle Polychelate aus der thermogravimetrischen Analyse bestimmt.
    Notes: Polychelates of VO(II), Mn(II), Zn(II), Fe(III), and Cr(III) were prepared from Schiff base of 5,5′-methylene bis-salicyladehyde with aniline. All the chelate polymers are amorphous and insoluble in common organic solvents. They have very little solubility in DMF. The first three polychelates are found to be noncharged chelate polymers while the last two polychelates are found to be ionic from their conductivities in DMF. Their probable structures were determined from reflectance electronic spectral and magnetic measurements in conjunction with infrared measurements. The thermal stability, order of reaction and activation energy for all the polychelates were determined from their thermogravimetric analyses.

    Description / Table of Contents: Polychelate von Cr(III), Fe(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) und UO2(II) wurden aus der Schiff-Base 4,4′-(4,4′-Biphenylylen-bisazo)-disalicylaldehyd mit Anilin hergestellt. Alle Chelatpolymere sind dunkel gefärbt und in herkömmlichen organischen Lösungsmitteln unlöslich. Sie wurden mit Hilfe von ESR- und magnetischen Messungen in Verbindung mit IR-Messungen charakterisiert. Elementaranalysen zeigten ein Verhältnis Metall: Ligand von 1:1 für alle Polychelate mit Ausnahme von UO2(II), das ein Verhältnis von 2:3 hatte. Die verschiedenen Ligandenfeldparameter wurden für Cr(III), Ni(II) und Co(II) Polychelate ausgewertet. Mit Ausnahme von Cu(II) und Co(II) Polychelaten zeigen die anderen Polychelate eine Struktur mit der Koordinationszahl 6. Cu(II) und Co(II) Polychelate zeigen eine quadratisch planare bzw. tetraedrische Struktur. Die thermische Stabilität aller Polychelate wurde aus thermogravimetrischen Analysen ermittelt.

All the chelate polymers are dark coloured and insoluble in common organic solvents. They are characterized on the basis of electronic reflectance spectral and magnetic measurements in conjunction with infrared measurements. Elemental analyses indicate a metal ligand ratio of 1:1 for all the polychelates except polychelate of UO2(II) for which the ratio is 2:3. The various ligand field parameters have been evaluated for Cr(III), Ni(II) and Co(II) polychelates. Except Cu(II) and Co(II), polychelates, the other polychelates show six coordinated structure. Cu(II) and Co(II) polychelates may have a square planar and tetrahydral structure, respectively. The thermal stability of all the polychelates was determined from their thermogravimetric analyses.
