    Description / Table of Contents: The radical homo- and copolymerization of vinyl acetate in methanol at 70°C was investigated. The rate constants of homopolymerization of both monomers in dependence on the concentration of azobisisobutyronitrile were determined. The vinyl acetate - butyl acrylate copolymerization parameters have been determined in dependence on the initiator concentration and the starting concentration relations of the monomers. They differ from data in literature. By means of NMR spectroscopy the microstructure of the copolymers was determined, which exhibits dependence on the time of reaction.
    Notes: Die radikalische Homo- und Copolymerisation von Vinylacetat und n-Butylacrylat in Methanol bei 70°C wurde untersucht. Die Bruttogeschwindigkeitskonstanten der Homopolymerisation beider Monomere in Abhängigkeit von der Azobisisobutyronitril-Konzentration wurden bestimmt. Für die Vinylacetat-Butylacrylat-Copolymerisation wurden die Copolymerisationsparameter in Abhängigkeit von der Initiatorkonzentration und vom Ausgangsverhältnis der Monomerkonzentrationen ermittelt. Die Ergebnisse unterscheiden sich von Literaturdaten. Die mittels NMR-Spektroskopie ermittelten Mikrostrukturparameter der Copolymere zeigen eine Abhängigkeit von der Reaktionszeit.

    Description / Table of Contents: Trimesityl vanadium initiates the polymerization of butadiene, whereby the butadiene can be a component of an isobutene-free C4-hydrocarbon mixture. At this reaction a change of the valency of vanadium takes place which is expressed by the appearance of ESR signals. The change of valency shows that no insertion of butadiene into a V— bond takes place. A mechanism for the initiation is proposed.
    Notes: Trimesitylvanadium initiiert die Polymerisation von Butadien, wobei das Butadien auch in isobutenfreien C4-Kohlenwasserstoffgemischen enthalten sein kann. Dabei vollzieht sich ein Wechsel der Oxidationsstufe des Vanadiums, was im Auftreten von ESR-Signalen zum Ausdruck kommt. Der Wertigkeitswechsel zeigt, daß keine Insertion des Butadiens in eine V—C-Bindung erfolgt. Ein Mechanismus der Initiierung wird vorgeschlagen.

    Description / Table of Contents: Investigations on the Synthesis of Diphenylmethyl Derivatives of Cobalt. Nickel, and ZincAlkali metal compounds of diphenylmethyl were reacted with salts of cobalt, nickel, and zinc. Only Zn(CHPh2)2 · 2 THF and similar adducts were obtained. In the case of Co and Ni red-ox eliminations occur.
    Notes: Alkalidiphenylmethylverbindungen wurden mit Addukten von Kobalt-, Nickel- und Zinksalzen in THF umgesetzt. Nur im Falle des Zinks konnten metallorganische Derivate in Substanz isoliert werden. Kobalt- und Nickelkomplexe unterliegen der Reduktion unter Bildung von Tetraphenyläthan.

Thermal, magnetical, and spectral behaviour of this new complexes is investigated. The central atoms posses a distorted tetrahedral co-ordination.
    Notes: Aus R3M · THF und LiR gelingt die Synthese von Verbindungen LiMR4 · 4 THF (M = V, Cr; R = C9H11). Das thermische, magnetische und spektrale Verhalten dieser neuen metallorganischen at-Komplexe wird beschrieben. Die Zentralatome besitzen in ihnen eine verzerrt-tetraedrische Koordinationsstruktur.

Preparation and Properties of Triaryl Vanadium ComplexesThe synthesis of triarylvanadium compounds, VR3 (R = C6H5; 2,6-(CH3)2C6H3; 2,4,6-(CH3)3C6H2; (CH3)5C6) is investigated. Only the compounds V[2,6-(CH3)2C6H3]3 and V[2,4,6-(CH3)3C6H2]3 (crystallized with tetrahydrofuran) are obtained. The complexes V(C6H5)(dipy)2 · THF, V[2,4,6-(CH3)3C6H2]3 · Do (Do = py, dipy) are described too.
    Notes: Die Synthese und Beständigkeit von Triarylvanadinverbindungen wurde untersucht. Während Tris(2,6-dimethylphenyl)vanadin und Trimesitylvanadin zugänglich sind, konnten Triphenylvanadin und das entsprechende Pentamethylphenyl-Derivat nicht isoliert werden. Es werden ferner die Komplexe V(C6H5)(dipy)2 · THF, V(C9H11)3 · py und V(C9H11)3 · dipy beschrieben.

    Description / Table of Contents: Arylvanadium(III) Compounds. VII. Organyl Vanadates of the Type LiVMes3(ERn) and their OxidationTrimesityl vanadium yields with carbyl ligands lithium trimesityl organyl vanadates. It reacts also with LiERn (E = Si, Sn, N, P, O) forming complexes of the type LiVMes3(ERn). The oxidation behaviour of the amido compounds are investigated, and VMes3(NPh2) is synthesized. The compounds are characterized by their magnetical, spectral, and thermal properties.
    Notes: Trimesitylvanadium reagiert außer mit unterschiedlichsten Carbanionen auch mit Organoelementionen zu entsprechenden at-Komplexen der Zusammensetzung LiVMes3(ERn). Dabei kann das Haftatom E des vierten Liganden sowohl Silicium bzw. Zinn als auch Stickstoff, Phosphor oder Sauerstoff darstellen. Die Synthese der Verbindungen sowie ihr magnetisches, spektrales und thermisches Verhalten werden beschrieben. Das Oxydationsverhalten der Amido-Komplexe wird untersucht. Aus LiVMes3(NPh2)(thf)4 wird VMes3(NPh2) erhalten.

Coordination Chemistry of Benzil-bis-anil as an Extremely π-acidic 1,4-DiazabutadieneFour preparative methods for the synthesis of complexes of benzil-bis-anil with transition metals in low oxidation states are described. The cristalline deep coloured compounds of the type M(N∩N)2 (M: Mn, Fe, Co), M(N∩N)3 (M: Ti, V) and η5-Cp2Ti(N∩N) are investigated by magnetic and spectroscopic measurements. Now the series of 1,4-diazabutadiene complexes with formal zero-valent 3 d transition metals is complete (1, 4-diazabutadiene: benzil-bis-anil).
    Notes: Vier präparative Methoden zur Darstellung von Komplexen des Benzildianils mit Übergangsmetallen niedriger Oxydationsstufen werden beschrieben. Die kristallinen, tieffarbigen Verbindungen des Typs M(N∩N)2 (M: Mn, Fe, Co), M(N∩N)3 (M: Ti, V) und η5-Cp2Ti (N∩N) werden hinsichtlich ihres magnetischen Verhaltens und ihrer spektroskopischen Eigenschaften untersucht. Nunmehr liegt eine komplette Serie von 1,4-Diazbutadien-Komplexen mit allen 3d-Übergangsmetallen der formalen Oxydationsstufe Null vor.

With VBr3(thf)3 the vanadium(III) compound LiV(Dmop)4 is obtained. Both complexes decompose by ligand abstraction yielding [V(Dmop)2]2. For analytical purposes Hg(Dmop)Cl was synthesized.
    Notes: Lithium-2,6-dimethoxyphenyl reagiert mit Vanadocen zu Li2V(Dmop)4. Ein entsprechender Vanadium(III)-Komplex LiV(Dmop)4 wird aus VBr3(thf)3 in Benzol erhalten. Beide Verbindungen bilden bei Ligandenabspaltung das dimere [V(Dmop)2]2. Für analytische Zwecke wurde Hg(Dmop)Cl hergestellt.
