    Description / Table of Contents: Donor-Acceptor Complexes [SnCl4(Se4N2)2] and [TiCl4(Se4N2)]The donor-acceptor complexes [SnCl4(Se4N2)2] and [TiCl4(Se4N2)] have been prepared by the reactions of Se4N2 with SnCl4 and TiCl4, respectively, in CH2Cl2 suspensions, forming red-brown, moisture sensitive crystal powders. The complexes are characterized by i. r. spectroscopy, the tin compound additionally by 119Sn Mössbauer spectroscopy. According to the spectra, in the tin complex both Se4N2 molecules are bonded with one of the nitrogen atoms at the tin atom in transposition (symmetry Ci), whereas in the titanium complex we assume both nitrogen atoms to be bonded in a chelating fashion at the titanium atom.
    Notes: Die Donorakzeptorkomplexe [SnCl4(Se4N2)2] und [TiCl4(Se4N2)] werden aus den Komponenten Se4N2 und SnCl4 bzw. TiCl4 in CH2Cl2-Suspensionen in Form rotbrauner, feuchtigkeitsempfindlicher Kristallpulver hergestellt. Die Komplexe werden durch ihre IR-Spektren, die Zinnverbindung zusätzlich durch das 119Sn-Mößbauer-Spektrum charakterisiert. Danach sind die Se4N2-Moleküle in der Zinnverbindung in trans-Position über je ein N-Atom an das Zinnatom koordiniert (Symmetrie Ci), während in dem Titankomplex vermutlich beide N-Atome des Se4N2-Moleküls chelatartig an das Titanatom gebunden sind.

    Notes: Se2NBr3, a planar molecule shaped liked dividers, was formed by the reaction of SeBr4 with N(SiMe3)3, which reduced the selenium to the trivalent state. Under the same conditions, Se2NCl5 was obtained by the reaction of SeCl4 with N(SiMe3)3, retaining the tetravalent state of selenium. The molecule is formed by two edge-sharing pseudotrigonal bipyramids with selenium as their central atoms. Se2NCl5 reacts with PPh4Cl to form the Se2NCl-6 ion by the addition of a Cl- ion to only one of the two selenium atoms, resulting in pseudooctahedral coordination of this atom. Ab initio calculations for all the compounds reported confirm the experimentally determined structures.

The compound is monomeric in solution with symmetry C2v, it crystallizes as a dimeric, bridged by chlorine atoms and with methyl groups in trans-positions (symmetry D2h).
    Notes: Die Schwingungsspektren (IR, Raman) von gelöstem und Kristallisiertem Dimethylantimontrichlorid werden mitgeteilt und zugeordnet. Danach bildet die Verbindung in Lösung monomere Moleküle der trigonal-bipyramidalen Symmetrie C2v, während im kristallinen Zustand über Chlorobrücken verknüpfte Dimere mit zueinander trans-ständigen Methylgruppen der Symmetrie D2h vorliegen.

The anisotropic hyperfine coupling of the ESR spectrum of 5 can be simulated using a newly developed computer program.
    Notes: Blitzthermolyse der Vorläufer 1-4 liefert das Allylradikal 5, welches in einer Argon-Matrix bei 10 K isoliert und spektroskopisch (IR, UV, ESR) identifiziert werden kann. Mit Hilfe eines neu entwickelten Computerprogramms gelingt es, die anisotrope Hyperfeinstruktur des ESR-Spektrums von 5 zu simulieren.

    Description / Table of Contents: Donor-Acceptor Complexes of Trimethylaluminium, -gallium, and -indium with Chalcogen IonsThe chalcogen ions O2⊖, S2⊖, and Se2⊖ (X) in their caesium or potassium salts react with excess trimethylaluminium, -gallium, and -indium to form complexes of the type [X(ElMe3)4]2⊖ (1a, b, 2a-c, 3a-c). According to the vibrational spectra, the chalcogen ions are surrounded tetrahedrally by the metal atoms, which themselves are bridged by methyl groups. The Raman spectrum of trimethylindium is reported.
    Notes: Die Chalkogenid-Ionen O2⊖, S2⊖ und Se2⊖ (X) bilden als Cäsium- bzw. Kaliumsalze mit überschüssigem Trimethylaluminium, -gallium bzw. -indium Komplexe des Typs [X(ElMe3)4]2⊖ (1a, b, 2a-c, 3a-c). Nach den Schwingungsspektren sind die Chalkogenid-Ionen tetraedrisch von den Metallatomen Al, Ga bzw. In umgeben, die ihrerseits über Methylgruppen verbrückt sind. Das Raman-Spektrum des Trimethylindiums wird mitgeteilt.

    Description / Table of Contents: Multiple Center-Bridged Donor-Acceptor complexes of Dimethylmagnesium with F⊖, CI⊖, CN⊖, N3⊖, NCO⊖ und SCN⊖The tetramethylammonium salts [(CH3)4N]⊕X⊖ with X⊖ = F⊖, CN⊖, N3⊖, and NCO⊖ react in ethereal solution with dimethylmagnesium to form the donor-acceptor complexes [(CH3)4N]2{[(CH3)2Mg]2X}2. The vibrational spectra suggest that the complex anions possess the methyl-bridged structures 1 or 4. Equimolar amounts of (CH3)2Mg react with [(CH3)4N]⊕X⊖ (X⊖ = CI⊖, N3⊖, SCN⊖) to yield adducts of composition [CH3)4N]2[(CH3)2MgX]2. The anions appear to have centrosymmetric methyl-bridged structures of the type 5-7.
    Notes: Die Tetramethylammoniumsalze [(CH3)4N]⊕ mit X⊖ = F⊖, CN⊖, N3⊖ und NCO⊖ reagieren mit ätherischen Lösungen von Dimethylmagnesium unter Bildung der Donator-Acceptor-Komplexe [(CH3)4N]2{[(CH3)2Mg]2X}2. In den komplexen Anionen liegen nach den Schwingungsspektren (IR, Raman) Methylbrücken enthaltende Strukturen vom Typ 1 bzw. 4 vor. Durch Anwendung äquimolarer Mengen (CH3)2Mg/[(CH3)4N]⊕X⊖ entstehen mit X⊖ = CI⊖, N3⊖, SCN⊖ Addukte der Zusammensetzung [(CH3)4N]2[(CH3)2MgX]2, deren Anionen methylverbrückte zentrosymmetrische Strukturen vom Typ 5 - 7 aufweisen.

    Description / Table of Contents: Trinuclear Sandwich Compounds Containing Dialkylphosphonate as Bridging Ligands: Synthesis, NMR-, IR-, and Raman StudiesThe solvolysis of [C5H5Co{P(OR)2O}3BF]BF4 (3) leads to the half-sandwich complex [C5H5Co{P(O)(OR)2}2{P(OH)(OR)2}] (4). 4 is a novel O3-tripod ligand which reacts with the bivalent metalions M = Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba, Pb, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Cd, Hg to give the trinuclear compounds [{(C5H5)Co[P(O)(OR)2]2}2M] (5a-m). In these sandwich like complexes the dialkylphosphonate ligands are forming bridges of the type Co—(P—O)3—M—(O—P)3—Co between the three metal centers. The 1H NMR spectra are discussed. Due to a non-regular octahedral coordination of the central ion M = Cu and Hg the vP = O and δP = O bands in the IR spectra of 5j and 5m are split. It is shown by means of the IR spectra that the Jahn-Teller distorted octahedral coordination of CuII in 5j is changed to a regular one under the influence of high pressure (35 kbar).
    Notes: Es wird über die Synthese des Halbsandwichkomplexes [C5H5Co{P(O)(OR)2}2{P(OH)(OR)2}] (4) aus [C5H5Co{P(OR)2O}3BF]BF4 (3) berichtet. 4 ist ein neuartiger O3-Tripodligand, der mit den zweiwertigen Metall-Ionen M = Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba, Pb, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Cd, Hg zu dreikernigen Verbindungen der Zusammensetzung [{(C5H5)Co[P(O)(OR)2]3}2M] (5a-m) reagiert. In den sandwich-artigen Komplexen 5 bilden die Dialkylphosphonatliganden Brücken der Art Co—(P—O)3—M—(O—P)3—Co zwischen den drei Metallzentren. Die 1H-NMR-Spektren werden diskutiert. Im IR-Spektrum beobachtet man als Folge der nicht regulären Oktaederkoordination beim CuII-Komplex 5j und bei der Quecksilberverbindung 5m eine Aufspaltung der VP = O und δP = O-Banden. An Hand der IR-Spektren wird gezeigt, daß die Jahn-Teller-Verzerrung des CuII-Komplexes 5j unter einem Druck von 35 kbar aufgehoben werden kann.
