    Notes: Abstract Remote measurements of atmospheric NO2 concentrations by means of a LIDAR system equipped with a tunable dye laser are reported. Using the differential absorption method, concentration values of about 0.2 ppm were detected over the city of Cologne at distances up to 4 km.

    Notes: Phenol and five acyclic isomeric compounds have been investigated using electron impact and field ionization techniques, mass analysed ion kinetic energy spectrometry and collision induced dissociation mass analysed ion kinetic energy spectrometry. The kinetic energy release data corresponding to the elimination of carbon monoxide from the molecular ions show that at least two structures of the reactant ion are involved. The electron impact and field ionization collision induced dissociation mass analysed ion kinetic energy spectra indicate that under electron impact conditions, the phenol ion partially isomerizes to another ion structure. An isomerization of about 40% to the structure of cis-2-hexen-4-yn-1-al is in good accordance with the spectral data.

    Description / Table of Contents: Nickel(0) Complexes with the Donor Set N2P2Mixed ligand complexes of the type (dipy)Ni(PR3)2 are stabil, provided the n-donor α,α′ -dipyridyl is combined with a tertiary phosphine or a phosphite acting as a π-acceptor. They may be prepared from (R3P)2Ni(C2H4) and dipy, from (dipy) Ni(COD) and PR3, or from (dipy) Ni(C2H5)2 and PR3. Starting with [(C6H11)3P]2Ni(C2H4) or (dipy)Ni(COD) the synthesis of the complex (dipy)Ni[P(C6H11)3]2 containing only n-donor ligands, failed. By the reaction of (dipy)Ni(C2H5)2 with (C6H11)3P the olefin complex [(C6H11)3P]2Ni(C2H4) was formed.
    Notes: Gemischtliganden-Komplexe des Typs (dipy)Ni(PR3)2 sind dann stabil, wenn dem n-Donator α,α′-Dipyridyl ein Phosphan bzw. Phosphit mit π-Akzeptorfunktion als Zweitligand gegenübersteht. Sie können aus (R3P)2Ni(C2H4) und dipy, aus (dipy) Ni(COD) und PR3 oder aus (dipy)Ni(C2H5)2 und PR3 dargestellt werden.Die Synthese des Komplexes (dipy)Ni[P(C6H11)3]2, in dem nur n-Donatoren als Liganden vorlägen, gelang, wenn von [(C6H11)3P]2Ni(C2H4) oder (dipy)Ni(COD) ausgegangen wurde, nicht. Die Reaktion von (dipy) Ni(C2H5)2 mit (C6H11)3P führt zu [(C6H11)3P]2Ni(C2H4).

    Description / Table of Contents: Reactions of π-Organonickel Complexes with Tertiary PhosphanesIn a hexane solution Ni(C5H5)2 reacts with PBu3 or Ph2PBu forming the nickel(O) complexes Ni(PBu3)4 or Ni(Ph2PBu)4 (A). Under the same conditions only one cyclopentadienyl ligand is substituted by PhPBu2 and the nickel(I) compound (C5H5)Ni (PhPBu2)2 (B) is obtained. Products of the reactions between B and α,α′-dipyridyl, hydrogen chlorid in ether, or Ni(PhPBu2),Cl2 are Ni(dipy)2, [PhPHBu2]2[NiCl4], or (C5H5) Ni(PhPBu2)2Cl. By the reaction with HgCl2 a cyclopentadienyl compound of an unknown structur is formed.The compound Ni(PhPBu2)4 which is analogous to A is synthesized by the reduction of bis(acety1acetonato)-nickel with Et2AlOEt in the presence of PhPBu2 or by the reaction of bis (cyclooctadiene-1,5)-nickel with PhPBu2.
    Notes: Ni(C5H6), reagiert mit PBu3 und Ph2PBu in Hexan unter Bildung der Nickel(0)-Komplexe Ni(PBu3), und Ni(Ph2PBu)4 (A). Unter den gleichen Bedingungen substituiert PhPBu2 nur einen Cyclopentadienylrest, und es entsteht die Nickel(I)-Verbindung ((C5H5)Ni(PhPBu2)2 (B). Die Reaktion von B mit α, α′-Dipyridyl, ätherischer Salz-säure bzw. Ni(PhPBu2)2Cl2 führt zur Bildung von Ni(dipy)2, [PhPHBu2]2[NiCl4] bzw. (C5H5)Ni(PhPBu2)2Cl. Mit Quecksilber((II)-chlorid wurde eine Nickel und Quecksilber ent-haltende Cyclopentadienylverbindung noch unbekannter Struktur erhalten.Die zu A analoge Verbindung Ni(PhPBu2)4 wurde bei der Reduktion von Bis(acety1-acetonato)-nickel(II) mit Et2AlOEt in Gegenwart von PhPBu2 oder aus Bis(cyc1ooctadien-1,5)-nickel und PhPBu2 gewonnen.

Starting from bicyclic amidacetales 6 aldehydes or bis-β-hydroxyethylamines 8 are formed. By quaternisation of the amidacetal-nitrogen followed by reaction with Grignard-agents the corresponding O,O-acetales are formed.

    Notes: Synthesis and Reactions of 2-Aryloxy-s-trithianes2-Aryloxy-s-trithianes 4 had been prepared from 1-tosyl-imino-1-SIV-1,3,5-trithiane and phenolates. - By self-condensation of 4 1,5-bis-(trithianyl)-1,3,5-trithiapentane 5 and triphenyl-orthoformate 7 are formed, accompanied by further products, which had been isolated in pure state and identified unambiguously by H-n.m.r. and mass-spectra. In the presence of acids the 2-aryloxy-s-trithianes 4 react with nucleophilic aromatic compounds such as phenoles, N,N-dimethylaniline, pyrrole, indole, and thiophenes to give the C-trithianylated products. With mercaptanes 2-alkylthio-s-trithianes are formed.
