Description / Table of Contents: Bidentate ligands (L2) with sulfur and nitrogen donor-atoms split [Co(NO)2Br]2 and form diamagnetic, ionic compounds [Co(NO)2(L2)]+Br-. With diamine-ligands also hexafluorophosphates could be derived from these complexes. Tetramethylethylenediamine yields a salt [Co(NO)2(L2)]+[Co(NO)2Br2]-. Compounds with more acid bidentate ligands such as 2-amino-benzenethiol, 2-mercaptobenzothiazole and dithioethanediamide react with H2O to form HBr and nonionic complexes [Co(+)(NO)2(L2+)]°. Some paramagnetic dinitrosyliron compounds were also observed.Thiosalicylic acid and toluenedithiol yield binuclear complexes [(ON)2Co(+)(L2(2-1))Co(+)(NO)2], ethylenedithiol forms a polymer with similar structure. The complex containing, 1,4-dithiane [(ON)2BrCoS(CH2CH2)2SCoBr(NO)2] is also binuclear. The NO stretching frequencies are reported and discussed in relation to isotypic dinitrosyliron compounds(1). According to the NO-force constants the N=O bond strengths generally decrease from Co to Fe.
[Co(NO)2Br2]-. Thiosalicylsäure und Toluoldithiol bilden mit [Co(NO)2Br]2 zweikernige Komplexe [(ON)2Co(+)(L2(2-))Co(+)(NO)2], Äthandithiol eine polymere Verbindung ähnlicher Struktur.

Description / Table of Contents: Dimeric dinitrosylironbromide [Fe(NO)2Br]2 reacts with bidentate sulfur and nitrogen containing ligands (L2), such as various thioamides, 2-aminobenzenethiol, 2-mercaptobenzothiazole, tetramethylbiphosphinedisulfide, guanidine and certain diamines, yielding ionic, paramagnetic dinitrosyliron complex halides of the type [(ON)2Fe(L2)]+Br- and also compounds of the structure [(ON)2Fe(L2)2]+Br-. The first 2-aminobenzenethiol complex may be reduced with zinc to a diamagnetic compound [(ON)2FeHSC6H4NH2] and with Na-amalgam to a salt with the anion [(ON)2FeHSC6H4NH2]-. 1, 4—dithiane and [Fe(NO)2Br]2 form a binuclear nonionic compound Br(ON)2Fe(SC4H8S)Fe(NO)2Br. Thiosalicylic acid and the nitrosyl halide form a „Red ROUSSIN Ester“ [(ON)2FeSR]2 (R = C6H4COOH) with free carboxylic groups, evident through salt formation. The NO spectra are discussed.
Mit 1, 4—Dithian und [Fe(NO)2Br]2 entsteht ein zweikerniger, nichtionogener Komplex Br(ON)2Fe(SC4H8S)Fe(NO)2Br.

Notes: Targeting of cell ablation agents under the control of tissue-specific promoters promises to be an important tool for studies of development and function in higher organisms. Temperature-sensitive cell ablation agents, recently developed for Drosophila, extend control to temporal as well as spatial aspects of toxin expression. Here we discuss achievements to date, together with a novel form of enhancer trap technology with the potential for driving toxin expression in a large range of cell types.
