    Notes: Numerical Methods were used to solve the differential equation for diffusion of a trace gas into a flowing carrier gas having a parabolic velocity profile in a cylindrical tube. Steady state solutions are given in the form of contour diagrams of constant trace gas concentration.

    Notes: The combination reaction between N and H atoms has been studied in a flow system by mixing H atoms produced by thermal dissociation of H2 with active nitrogen produced by a microwave discharge. Relative N atom concentrations were determined from the intensity of the yellow nitrogen afterglow. Absolute N and H atom concentrations were measured by EPR absorption spectroscopy. Absolute N atom concentrations were also determined by titration with NO. Upper and lower limits of 6.4 ± 1.5 × 10-32 and 3.1 ± 1.0 × 10-32 cm6 molecule-2 sec-1 were determined for the rate constant.

    Description: RIACS hosted a workshop which was designed to foster communication among those people within NASA working on workstation related technology, to share technology, and to learn about new developments and futures in the larger university and industrial workstation communities. Herein, the workshop is documented along with its conclusions. It was learned that there is both a large amount of commonality of requirements and a wide variation in the modernness of in-use technology among the represented NASA centers.
