    Notes: Abstract The cellular model of short chain fatty acid stimulation of electroneutral Na-Cl absorption in large intestine proposes that SCFA, following its uptake across the apical membrane, recycles and is coupled to functional Na-H and Cl-short chain fatty acid exchanges. To establish the presence of a Cl-butyrate exchange (used as a model short chain fatty acid), studies of 36Cl and 14C-butyrate uptake across apical membrane vesicles of rat distal colon were performed. An outward butyrate-gradient stimulated transient accumulation of 36Cl uptake that was not inhibited by pH clamping with valinomycin (a K ionophore) and FCCP (a proton ionophore). Outward butyrate-gradient-stimulated 36Cl uptake was inhibited by 4,4′-diisothiocyanatostilbene2,2′-disulfonic acid (DIDS) with a half-maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50) of 68.4 μm, and was saturated by both increasing extravesicular Cl concentration (K m for Cl of 26.8 ±3.4 mm and a V max of 12.4±0.6 nmol/mg protein·9 sec) and increasing intravesicular butyrate concentration (K m for butyrate of 5.9 mm and a V max for Cl of 5.9 nmol/mg protein · 9 sec). 36Cl uptake was also stimulated by outward gradients of other short chain fatty acids (e.g., propionate, acetate and formate). In contrast, an outward Cl gradient failed to enhance 14C-butyrate uptake. Extravesicular Cl more than extravesicular butyrate enhanced 36Cl efflux from apical membrane vesicles. These studies provide compelling evidence for the presence of an electroneutral, pH-activated, Cl-butyrate exchange which in concert with Na-H exchange is the mechanism by which butyrate stimulates electroneutral Na-Cl absorption.

    Notes: Mit Hilfe der potentiostatischen Dreieckspannungsmethode wurde die spezifische Oberfläche von porösen Platin-Katalysatoren durch kathodische Adsorption bzw. anodische Desorption von Wasserstoff-Atomen gemessen und mit Werten aus der BET-Oberflächenbestimmung verglichen. Es ergab sich, daß bei Raney-Platin die spezifische Oberfläche vom Aluminium-Gehalt abhängt und bei Betrieb des Katalysators in einer Elektrode abnimmt (Alterung). Die Messungen wurden in Beziehung gesetzt zur Katalysator-Aktivität bei der Oxidation von Methanol.

    Description / Table of Contents: Synthesis of the Silatetraphospholanes (tBuP)4SiMe2, (tBuP)4SiCl2, and (tBuP)4Si(Cl)SiCl3 Molecular and Crystal Structure of (tBuP)4SiCl2The reaction of the diphosphide K2[(tBuP)4] 7 with the halogenosilanes Me2SiCl2, SiCl4 or Si2Cl6 in a molar ratio of 1:1 leads via a [4 + 1]-cyclocondensation reaction to the silatetraphospholanes (tBuP)4SiMe2 1,1-dimethyl-1-sila-2,3,4,5-tetra-t-butyl-2,3,4,5-tetraphospholane, 1, (tBuP)4SiCl2, 1,1-dichloro-1-sila-2,3,4,5-tetra-t-butyl-2,3,4,5-tetraphospholane, 2, and (tBuP)4Si(Cl)SiCl3, 1-chloro-1-trichlorsilyl-1-sila-2,3,4,5-tetra-t-butyl-2,3,4,5-tetraphospholane, 3, respectively, with the 5-membered P4Si ring system. The reaction leading to 1 is accompanied with the formation of the by-product Me2(Cl)-Si-(tBuP)4-Si(Cl)Me2 1a (5:1), which has a chain structure. On warming to 100°C 1a decomposes to 1 and Me2SiCl2. The compounds 2 and 3 do not react further with an excess of 7 due to strong steric shielding of the ring Si atoms by the t-butyl groups. 1, 2 and 3 could be obtained in a pure form and characterized NMR spectroscopically; 2 was also characterized by a single crystal structure analysis. 1a was identified by NMR spectroscopy only.
    Notes: Bei der Reaktion zwischen dem Diphosphid K2[(tBuP)4] 7 und den Halogensilanen Me2SiCl2, SiCl4 bzw. Si2Cl6 im Molverhältnis 1:1 findet eine [4 + 1]-Cyclokondensationsreaktion statt, bei der die Silatetraphospholane (tBuP)4SiMe2, 1,1-Dimethyl-1-sila-2,3,4,5-tetra-t-butyl-2,3,4,5-tetraphospholan, 1, (tBuP)4SiCl2, 1,1-Dichloro-1-sila-2,3,4,5-tetra-t-butyl-2,3,4,5-tetraphospholan, 2, und (tBuP)4Si(Cl)SiCl3, 1-Chloro-1-trichlorsilyl-1-sila-2,3,4,5-tetra-t-butyl-2,3,4,5-tetraphospholan, 3, mit dem binären P4Si-Fünfringgerüst gebildet werden. Bei der Synthese von 1 entsteht ferner das kettenförmige Nebenprodukt Me2(Cl)Si-(tBuP)4-Si(Cl)Me2 1a (5:1), das beim Erwärmen auf 100°C unter Bildung von 1 und Me2SiCl2 zerfällt. Die Verbindungen 2 und 3 reagieren nicht mit überschüssigem 7, was auf eine starke sterische Abschirmung der Ring-Si-Atome durch die benachbarten t-Butyl-Gruppen zurückzuführen ist. 1, 2 und 3 konnten in reiner Form isoliert und NMR-spektroskopisch charakterisiert werden; 1a konnte nur 31P-NMR-spektroskopisch identifiziert werden. Von 2 wurde eine Einkristallstrukturanalyse durchgeführt.

    Description / Table of Contents: 1,2-Bis(dimethylamino)-3,4,5-triphenyl-3,4,5-triphospha-1,2-diborolane and 1,2-Bis(dimethylamino)-3,4,5,6-tetra-tbutyl-3,4,5,6-tetraphospha-1,2-diborine: Synthesis and Structure as well as Calculations on the Molecular StructureThe diphosphides K2[(C6H5)P—(C6H5)P—P(C6H5)], 4 or K2[(tBuP)—(tBuP)2—P(tBu)], 5, react with (ClBNMe2)2 to form the binary 5-membered ring system 1,2-bis(dimethylamino)-3,4,5-triphenyl-3,4,5-triphospha-1,2-diborolane (C6H5P)3(BNMe2)2, 2a, and the 6-membered ring system 1,2-bis(dimethylamino)-3,4,5,6-tetra-tbutyl-3,4,5,6-tetraphospha-1,2-diborine, (tBuP)4(BNMe2)2, 3a, respectively. 2a and 3a could be obtained in a pure form and characterized NMR spectroscopically and by X-ray structure analyses. The two ring systems are folded; 2a exists in the „envelope“- 3a in the „boat“-conformation. Ab initio computations for 3,4,5-triphospha-1,2-diborolane M5 show that the global minimum is characterized by one B—P double bond. The parent compound geometry M6 is characterized by transannular bonding in the PH—BH—BH—PH moiety which differs in character from those in the four- and five-membered rings (BH)2(PH)2 and (BH)2(PH)3 M5 d, respectively. Explicit calculation of the influence of amino substituents on boron improved agreement of the bond length between computed and X-ray data.

K2[(tBuP)—(tBuP)2—P(tBu)], 5, reagieren mit (ClBNMe2)2 zu dem binären Fünfringsystem 1,2-Bis(dimethylamino)-3,4,5-triphenyl-3,4,5-triphospha-1,2-diborolan (C6H5P)3(BNMe2)2, 2a, bzw. dem Sechsringsystem 1,2-Bis(dimethylamino)-3,4,5,6-tetra-tbutyl-3,4,5,6-tetraphospha-1,2-diborin, (tBuP)4(BNMe2)2, 3a. 2a und 3a konnten in reiner Form isoliert, NMR-spektroskopisch und durch Röntgenstrukturanalysen charakterisiert werden. Beide Ringsysteme sind gefaltet; 2a zeigt eine „envelope“- 3a eine „Wannen“-Konformation.Ab initio Berechnungen an 3,4,5-Triphospha-1,2-diborolan M5 zeigen, daß im globalen Minimum eine B—P-Doppelbindung mit annähernd planarem σ3-Phosphor vorliegt. Die Geometrie der Stammverbindung des Sechsringes M6 weist „durch-den-Ring“-Bindung in der PH—BH—BH—PH-Baugruppe auf, welche sich von jenen im Vier- und Fünfring M5 d unterscheidet. Durch die explizite Berechnung des Einflusses von Aminosubstituenten an Bor auf die Geometrien des Fünf- und Sechsringes verbessert sich die Übereinstimmung der Bindungslängen mit den Daten der Röntgenstrukturanalyse.

The introduction of a second PFOR substituent in II by further reaction with I has been possible. Thus formation of the previously unknown methylamino-bis(fluoroalkylphosphites), CH3N(PFOR)2 III, was observed. Compounds of type III exist in a meso form as well as in a racemic pair. 19F and 31P n.m.r. spectra are discussed.
    Notes: Fluorochlorophosphite, (ROPFCl) I, reagieren mit Heptamethyldisilazan unter Substitution einer Trimethylsilylgruppe zu Methyl-(trimethylsilylamino)-fluoroalkylphosphiten, CH3N(PFOR)(SiMe3) II. Unter drastischeren Bedingungen kann mit I auch die zweite Trimethylsilylgruppe substituiert werden und man erhält die bisher unbekannten Methylamino-bis(fluoroalkylphosphite), CH3N(PFOR)2 III. Letztere liegen in einer meso-Form bzw. als Racemat vor. Die 19F- und 31P-NMR-Spektren werden diskutiert.

    Description / Table of Contents: [Na · Triglyme]2[S(BH3)4]: a Salt of the New Anion Tetrakis(borane)sulfate(2- ). Crystal Structure and Theoretical Investigation of the StructureNa[H3B-m̈2-S(B2H5)] 1 is produced by the reaction between NaSH and THF · BH3, under dehydrogenation. 1 is also formed as the first 11B-NMR-spectroscopically detectable reaction product by the reaction between anhydrous Na2S and THF · BH3. Adducts of BH3 with the S2- ion are not detectable in THF. The anion [S(BH3)4]2- can however be obtained, by the addition of NaBH4 to 1 in diglyme or triglyme respectively: [Na  -  Triglyme]2[S(BH3)4] 2. 2 crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21/n (Nr. 14). Structural data of 1 and 2 have been calculated by SCF methods. The anion of 2 may be viewed either as an adduct of B2H6 with S2-, or as a bridge substituted thia derivative of B2H7-; furthermore the anion of 2 is isoelectronic and isostructural with the SO42- ion.
    Notes: Bei der Reaktion zwischen NaSH und THF · BH3 entsteht unter H2-Abspaltung Na[H3B-m̈2-S(B2H5)] 1. 1 entsteht auch als erstes 11B-NMR-spektroskopisch nachweisbares Reaktionsprodukt bei der Reaktion zwischen wasserfreiem Na2S und THF · BH3. Addukte von BH3 an das S2--Ion lassen sich in THF als Lösungsmittel nicht nachweisen. Das neue Anion [S(BH3)4]2- kann jedoch durch Addition von NaBH4 an 1 in Diglyme bzw. Triglyme erhalten werden: [Na · L]2[S(BH3)4] 2. 2 kristallisiert monoklin in der Raumgruppe P21/n (Nr. 14). Aus SCF-Rechnungen erhielten wir die Strukturparameter für 1 und 2. Das Anion von 2 kann sowohl als Addukt von B2H6 an S2- als auch als brückensubstituiertes Thia-Derivat des B2H7--Ions aufgefaßt werden; ferner ist es isoelektronisch und isostrukturell mit dem SO42-- Ion.
