Notes: Abstract The following paper demonstrates that programmed sequential graph grammars can be used in a systematic proceeding to specify the changes of high level intermediate data structures arising in a programming support environment, in which all tools work in an incremental and syntax-driven mode. In this paper we lay stress upon the way to get the specification rather than on the result of this process. Therefore, we give here some approach to “specification engineering” using graph grammars. This approach is influenced by the syntactical definition of the underlying language for Programming in the Small, the module concept etc. to be supported on one side but also by the idea of the user interface.

The crystal structure of Li[MnO4] corresponds to the CrVO4-type with coordination number 6 for lithium and 4 for manganese. The Madelung Part of Lattice Energie, MAPLE, the Effective Coordination Numbers, ECoN and the charge distribution were calculated and discussed.

Notes: The mass spectra of the dimethylphosphinic, dimethylthiophosphinic and dimethylphosphinous ester derivatives of several monohydroxy steroids are reported. The fragmentations of the derivatized steroids largely depend on the nature of the the phosphorus-containing ester group. Phenolic ester derivatives exhibit the base peak at the molecular ion, whereas the spectra of the secondary phosphinic esters are dominated by very intense protonated phosphinic acid ions [Me2 P(XH)(OH)]+ at m/e 95 (X = O) or at m/e 111 (X = S). The present results also indicate the low ionization potential for the phosphinic ester group. Due to their good gas chromatographic properties, these steroid derivatives appear to be particularly suitable for gas chromatographic mass spectrometric analysis of biochemical materials.

Description / Table of Contents: Applicability of Different Etching Methods for Metals - Comparing Investigation of Metallographic Etching ProceduresThe feasibility of different etching techniques in laboratory practice is mainly appointed by the reproducibility of the metallographic micro-structure, which is dependent on the etching method, the etching time and a practical handling of the etching procedure. Comparing investigations concerning the applicability of chemical, electrolytic and ionic etching methods for metals and alloys in electrotechnical industry - with the aim to estimate efficiency and reproducibility of the micro-structure resulting from the different techniques - have been done. Micro-structure estimation will be done by different methods of light-microscopy.In any case physical ion-etching turns out to be the less problematic etching method - in comparison with chemical and electrolytic techniques. Ion etching shows a good reproducibility and allows the simultaneous etching of different materials. The summarizing valuation of the different etching methods includes a list of optimum etching parameters for copper, brass copper-tin and copper-beryllium alloys.

Notes: The effect of moisture on the curing reaction of Hercules 3501-6/AS graphite-epoxy prepreg was investigated. Test samples of prepreg were aged under humid conditions, while control samples were aged under identical temperature conditions but with negligible humidity. Determinations of the amounts of moisture absorbed and desorbed fom the samples were accomplished gravimetrically. Dielectric analysis was used to monitor the relative reaction rates and overall activation energies of the prepreg after various aging periods. Changes taking place in monomer concentrations were observed using high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). As aging continued, samples aged under humid conditions displayed, significant decrease in the overall activation energy accompanied by increased reaction rates. This change did not occur in the control samples. Samples aged in high humidity showed increased conversion of monomers to polymer when compared to dry aged samples. The aging time required before the above changes became apparent was temperature dependent; the higher the aging temperature, the sooner the changes in reactivity occurred.
