Description: The low power, high reliability, SUMC-III-C computer is one member of the Space Ultrareliable Modular Computer (SUMC) family designed by NASA/MSFC to meet a wide range of missions through modularity in word size, throughput, and reliability. The SUMC-III-C, directed at such missions as the Large Space Telescope and Space Tug, uses custom designed CMOS/SOS LSI arrays with critical computer paths packaged on thick-film hybrids. This technology provides 300 to 600 logic gates per array with a typical stage delay of 3 to 5 nsec. SUMC-III-C is fully S/360 compatible at the user level, and includes virtual memory for the first time in an aerospace computer.
