    Notes: On the Formation of a Fe2(CO)6 Complex with a (Boryloxy)allyl BridgeThe amino(imino)borane Me3Si(tBu)N=B=NtBu (1) reacts with (benzylideneacetone)tricarbonyliron (2) in 1:2 molar ratio to give a 50% yield of the hexacarbonyldiiron complex 3 with a fly-over (boryloxy)allyl bridge, which crystallizes in the space group P21/c. The structure of 3 can be described as a pyramid with Fe(CO)3 at the apex and a non-planar pentagon [-Fe(CO)3-O(BXX′)-C(Me)-CH-C(Ph)-] [X = NHtBu, X′ = N(SiMe3)tBu] as the basis, but there is no bond between the apex and the O atom.

    Notes: Further Reactions of Iminoboranes RB≡NR' with Neopentylidenetantalum ComplexesThe azaboratantalacyclobutanes [-NR≡-BR-CH(tBu)-Ta-CpCl2-] (3b, d, f, h-1; R/R′=Pr/tBu, iPr/tBu, iPr/iPr, tBuCH2/tBuCH2, Me3SiCH2/Me3SiCH2, tBu/Me, tBu/iPr, tBu/SiMe3) are formed from the corresponding iminoboranes RB≡NR′ and the neopentylidenetantalum complex [tBuHC=TaCpCl2] (2a) by [2 + 2] cycloaddition. The elimination of HCl from 3b, d, f, h and from the four known azaboratantalacyclobutanes 3a, c, e, g [R/R'equals;Et/tBu, Bu/tBu, Ph/tBu, iBu/iBu] gives the azaboratantalacyclobutenes [-NR′-BR-C(tBu)=TaCpCl-] (4a-h). X-Ray structural analyses of 4e, f show these cyclic carbenetantalum complexes to contain short Ta-C and Ta-N bonds and perhaps some transannular Ta-B interaction. The complex [tBuHC=TaCl3(THF)2] (2b) adds iminoboranes RB≡NtBu with unbranched alkyl groups (R=Et, Pr, Bu) in a 1:2 molar ratio to yield the diazoniadiboratatantalacyclohexadienes 5a-c; the product 5a adopts a non-planar ring structure in the crystal. The 1:2 reaction of 2b with tBuB≡NMes, instead, results in the cyclobutane [-N(Mes)-B(tBu)-N(Mes)-TaCl3(THF)-] (7m).

    Notes: On the Addition of Alkyldichloroboranes to Bis(η5-cyclopentadienyl)dihydridotungstenReaction of basic [Cp2WH2] (1) with the Lewis acids iPrBCl2 and tBuBCl2 does not lead to adducts of the type [Cp2WH2 (RBCl2)] [R = iPr, tBu]. The zwitterions [CpWH3(η5-C5H4BRCl2)] (R = iPr, 2a; tBu, 2b) having an exocyclic boron substituent were isolated instead in 60% yield. The molecular structure of 2b crystallizing in the space group P21/n is proved by X-ray structure determination.

    Notes: The μ3-boryloxycarbyne complexes [{Fe(CO)3}3{μ3-COBCl{NtBu(SiMe3)}}2] (1) and [{(η5-C5H5)Ni}3{μ3-COBX(NR2)}μ3-CO] (2a: NR2 = NtBu(SiMe3), × = Cl; 2b: NR2 = N(SiMe3)2, × = Cl; 2c: NR2 = NMe2, × = BNMe2Cl) were obtained by reaction of the anionic complexes K2[{Fe(CO)3}3{μ3-CO}2] and K[{(η5-C5H5)Ni(CO)] with the corresponding chloroboranes Cl2BNR2 {NR2 = NtBu(SiMe3), N(SiMe3)2}, or 1,2-dichlorodiboranes(4) B2(NMe2)2Cl2, respectively. The products are formed by a nucleophilic attack of the CO oxygen atom at the boron centres with subsequent salt elimination. All compounds were characterized by IR and multinuclear NMR spectroscopy, and the structures of 1 and 2c in the solid state were determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies.

    Notes: The reactivity of aminodihaloboranes R2NBX2 (R = Me, SiMe3; × = Cl, Br) towards transition metal complexes of the type Na[(η5-C5R′5)M(CO)2)] (M = Fe, Ru; R′ = H, Me) was investigated. In the case of Me2NBBr2 and M = Fe the borylcomplexes [(η5-C5R′5)(CO)2Fe{BBr(NMe2)}] (C5R′5 = C5H59a; C5R′5 = C5H4Me 9b; C5R′5 = C5Me510) were obtained. The compounds 9aand 9bwere formed together with the corresponding bridged borylene complexes [μ-BNMe2(μ-CO){(η5-C5R′5)Fe(CO)}2] (C5R′5 = C5H511a; C5R′5 = C5H4Me 11b) in a 1:1 ratio, the latter, however, could be isolated from these mixtures as pure materials. In addition the novel boryl and borylene ruthenium complexes [(η5-C5H5)(CO)2Ru{BX(NMe2)}] (X = Cl 12a; × = Br 12b), [(η5-C5H5)(CO)2Ru{BCl{NSiMe3{BClN(SiMe3)2}}}] (13) and [μ-BN(SiMe3)2(μ-CO){(η5-C5H5)Ru(CO)}2] (14) were obtained by similar methods. All compounds were characterized by multinuclear NMR and IR spectroscopy. The structure of 13 in the solid state was determined by a single-crystal X-ray diffraction study.

    Notes: Various [1]borametallocenophane complexes of all the group IV metals were obtained in high yield by a very efficient multistep, one-pot synthesis. By this method not only the biscyclopentadienyl and diindenyl complexes [{R2NB(η5-C5H4)2}MCl2] (M = Zr, R = Me, SiMe3, 4a, b; M = Hf, R = SiMe3, 5) and [{(Me3Si2)NB(η5-C9H6)2}MCl2] (M = Ti, 6; M = Zr, 7) were obtained, but also complexes with two different η5-coordinated ligands such as [{iPr2NB(η5-C5H4)(η5-C9H6)}MCl2] (M = Zr, 8; M = Hf, 9). Some of compounds 4-9 were chosen to investigate their catalytic properties with respect to Ziegler-Natta-type polymerisation of olefins, and proved to be highly efficient for the preparation of polyethylene.

    Notes: A series of η1-borazine complexes were obtained by the reaction of trichloroborazine with Na[(η5-C5R5)Fe(CO)2]. The compounds [{(C5R5)(CO)2Fe}nCl3-nB3N3H3] (1a, n = 1, R = Me; 1b, n = 2, C5R5 = C5H4Me; 1c, n = 3, R = H) have one to three iron-boron σ bonds and Fe-B π-interactions can be ruled out from the spectroscopic and structural results. All new borazine complexes were isolated as orange crystalline solids and characterized by multinuclear NMR methods and IR spectroscopy. The structure of 1b in the crystalline state was also determined by a single-crystal X-ray study.
