    Description: The search for predictions of species diversity across environmental gradients has challenged ecologists for decades. The humped-back model (HBM) suggests that plant diversity peaks at intermediate productivity; at low productivity few species can tolerate the environmental stresses, and at high productivity a few highly competitive species dominate. Over time the HBM has become increasingly controversial, and recent studies claim to have refuted it. Here, by using data from coordinated surveys conducted throughout grasslands worldwide and comprising a wide range of site productivities, we provide evidence in support of the HBM pattern at both global and regional extents.     Description: Atmospheric carbon dioxide records indicate that the land surface has acted as a strong global carbon sink over recent decades, with a substantial fraction of this sink probably located in the tropics, particularly in the Amazon. Nevertheless, it is unclear how the terrestrial carbon sink will evolve as climate and atmospheric composition continue to change. Here we analyse the historical evolution of the biomass dynamics of the Amazon rainforest over three decades using a distributed network of 321 plots. While this analysis confirms that Amazon forests have acted as a long-term net biomass sink, we find a long-term decreasing trend of carbon accumulation. Rates of net increase in above-ground biomass declined by one-third during the past decade compared to the 1990s. This is a consequence of growth rate increases levelling off recently, while biomass mortality persistently increased throughout, leading to a shortening of carbon residence times. Potential drivers for the mortality increase include greater climate variability, and feedbacks of faster growth on mortality, resulting in shortened tree longevity.     Description: Se realizó la evaluación de stock del recurso langostino colorado (Pleuroncodes monodon) a partir de dos modelos: uno edad estucturado (modelo base) y un modelo de biomasa dinámica. Ambos se ajustaron por unidad de pesquería, utilizando la información del período 1998 hasta el año 2010. Para el primer modelo se utilizó la información de desembarques biomasas por área barrida y estructuras de tallas y para el caso del modelo de biomasa dinámica se utilizaron los datos de desembarques cpue y bionmasas por área barrida.
    Description: We performed the stock assessment of shrimp resources (Pleuroncodes monodon) from two models: a structured summer age (base model) and a biomass dynamic model. Both were adjusted per unit of fishing, using information from the period 1998 through 2010. For the first model was used landings data for swept area biomass and size structure and in the case of biomass dynamic model used data from landings and cpue bionmasas by swept area.
