Notes:
Summary The suitability of dithiocarbamate precipitation of heavy metal traces out of aqueous, alkali loaded solutions for the preparation of measuring samples for X-ray fluorescence analysis (XRF) is demonstrated by investigation of yield and homogeneity with the help of radio tracers. Membrane filtration of the precipitates results in carbamate loaded filters, which can be directly measured by radioisotope excited XRF. The elution of the membrane filters or of dithiocarbamate complex loaded chromosorb-columns, respectively, yields solutions, out of which the element traces can be determined by special XRF-methods. This especially applies to the preparation of measuring samples for XRF with totally reflecting sample supports. Potential fields of application for the investigated procedure are the determination of trace elements in biological liquids and especially water analysis.
