    Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Als Teil einer Studie der Eigenschaften von Feststoff-Protonenleitern wurde neben den IR- und Raman-Spektren auch das thermische Verhalten der isomorphen Verbindungen MH2(IO3)3 (M=K, Rb, NH4) untersucht. In den drei Phasen wurden mit Hilfe von TG, DTA, IR und Röntgendiffraktionsuntersuchungen detaillierte Stöchiometrien entwickelt. Es gab auch Beweise für die Bildung von polymeren [I3O8]− Phasen. Ihre Stabilität steht in Verbindung mit der unterschiedlichen Polarisationsfähigkeit der H-, K- und Rb-Kationen.
    Notes: Abstract The thermal behaviour of the MH2(IO3)3 (M=K, Rb and NH4) isomorphous compounds, as well as the IR and Raman spectra have been investigated as part of a study of the properties of solid protonic conductors. Detailed stoichiometries, sustained by TG, DTA, XRD and IR analysis, have been developed into the three phases. There were also evidences of the formation of the [I3O8]− polymeric phases. Their stabilities were associated to the different polarizing power of the H, K and Rb cations.

    Description: The Campi Flegrei caldera (southern Italy) is one of the most hazardous areas in the World as several hundred thousand people live there and where important socio-economic activities have developed. The caldera includes the western-most part of the city of Naples and extends into the Gulf of Pozzuoli (eastern Tyrrhenian basin; Fig. 1). The main feature of the present volcanic activity of the caldera is the episodic slow and high-amplitude soil movement (bradyseism) accompanied by intense and shallow seismic activity that only occurs during the uplift phase.

    Description: The village of San Gregorio (L'Aquila, Italy) was severely damaged by the April 6, 2009 earthquake. San Gregorio is situated at the base of a carbon- ate relief bounded by the Aterno river alluvial plain. The geological features of the area are very complex: jointed carbonate bedrock, cemented gravels and alluvial fan crop out in the village. Co-seismic ground fractures were seen along SW dip- ping active fault segments crossing San Gregorio. We integrated the microzona- tion studies with new geological, geotechnical and geophysical data for supporting the reconstruction planning of the village. Noise measurements show strong and polarized peaks in the horizontal-to-vertical spectral ratios (H/V) in the 3-7 Hz frequency band. Interestingly, the alluvial fan and the outcropping rock masses show both H/V peaks. To understand the influence of rock mass joint condition on site effect, we performed structural surveys on carbonate bedrock to look for a possible correlation between rock fracturing and ground-motion amplification

    Description: We present preliminary results from a multidisciplinary geophysical approach ap- plied to the imaging of the three-dimensional architecture of the Middle Aterno basin, close to the epicentral area of the 2009 L’Aquila earthquake (central Italy). We collected several time domain electromagnetic soundings (TDEM) coupled with seismic noise measurements focu- sing on the characterization of the bedrock/in ll interface. Our preliminary results agree with existing geophysical data collected in the area, and show that the southeastern portion of the basin is characterized by a deepening of the Mesozoic-Tertiary bedrock down to a depth of more than 450 m. We found that a joint use of electromagnetic and seismic methods signi - cantly contributes in obtaining new insights on the 3D geometry of the Middle Aterno basin. Moreover, we believe that our combined approach based on TDEM and noise measurements can be adopted to investigate similar geological settings elsewhere.
