    Notizen: Abstract The crystal and molecular structure of the title compound, [Zn(II)]2(DAG)2, were determined and the results compared with those obtained for similar N-protected amino acids. In the crystalline state, 16-membered macrocyclic dimers are held together by hydrogen bridges in a triclinic $$P\bar 1$$ lattice. The Zn(II) ions are pentacoordinated to oxygens in a slightly distorted trigonal bipyramid. The trigonal plane is formed by two carboxylic oxygens and an oxygen atom from a water molecule, whereas the apical positions are occupied by two other oxygens from the remaining coordinated water molecules. The ligands form bridges between cations providing the cyclic dimers, whereas similar but shorter systems form pseudo polymer sheets.

    Notizen: Abstract Charge transfer molecular solids [diaqua tetrabenzo (b,f,j,n,) {1,5,9,13) tetraazacyclohexadecine] Ni(II) and Cu(II) bisanthraflavates were synthesized and characterized by IR, Mass Spectrometry, TGA, and X-ray diffraction on single crystals. Unit cell dimensions (Å) a = 12.291(1), c = 14.574(1) Å and a = 12.434(1), c = 14.066(1) Å for Cu(II) and Ni(II) derivatives, respectively, space group P42/n in both cases. The obtained compounds show expected chemical and structural similarities. Tetraazamacrocycles are surrounded individually by a zig-zag, ribbon-like motif extending in the crystal by head-to-tail hydrogen bonding of monosubstituted anthraflavates. Electric conductivities were measured by the four points method as pellets from the variation of electric current through the sample as a function of temperature, for fixed voltages in the ohmic regime. Preliminary results indicate low conductivity values at room temperature but semiconductivity behaviour in the temperature range −150 to 170°C.

    Notizen: Abstract Photolysis of 3-ferrocenyl-3-methyl- and 3-ferrocenyl-3-isopropylcyclopropenes was studied. Sensitized irradiation (triplet excitation) afforded [2+2]-cycloaddition products, viz., tricyclohexane derivatives. Direct irradiation (singlet excitation) of methyl-substituted ferrocenylcyclopropene gave rise to 2-ferrocenylbut-1-en-3-yne and trans-2-ferrocenylbut-2-ene. The isopropyl analog was converted into 1-ferrocenyl-4,4-dimethylcyclobutene. The reaction of this cyclopropene with 2-ferrocenyl-3-methylbut-1-ene afforded 1,3-diferrocenyl-3-isopropyl-6,6-dimethylcyclohexene. The latter compound and 3,6-diferrocenyl-3,6-diisopropyltricyclo[3.1.0.02,4]hexane were studied by X-ray diffraction analysis. Possible reaction pathways are discussed.
