    Description / Table of Contents: The interaction between alkyl magnesium halides and titanium(IV)-chloride and -bromide in nonpolar solvents is investigated. The reaction products, mostly mixtures of two substances, were isolated in the form of thermally stable complexes with 2,2′-bipyridyl.
    Notes: Es wird über die Einwirkung ätherfreier Alkylmagnesiumhalogenide auf Titan(IV)-chlorid und Titan(IV)-bromid in unpolaren Lösungsmitteln berichtet. Die entstehenden Reaktionsprodukte, meist Substanzgemische, wurden als thermisch stabile 2,2′-Dipyridyl-komplexe isoliert.

On Attempts to prepare Benzyl Compounds of Nickel, Cobalt, and IronReport about attempts to prepare benzyl compounds of nickel, cobalt and iron by reactions of halides of these metals, triaryl and trialkylphosphine complexes of nickel and cobalt halides, bis(cyclooctadiene-1,5)nickel and tetrakis(triphenylphosphine)-nickel with several benzylating agents. In the course of some reactions the intermediate formation of instable benzyl compounds seems to occur, but an isolation failed in each case.
    Notes: Bericht über Versuche zur Benzylierung von Nickel-, Kobalt-und Eisenhalogeniden, Triaryl- und Trialkylphosphinkomplexen von Nickel- und Kobalthalogeniden, Nickel-bis-cyclooctadien und Nickeltetrakis-triphenylphosphin mit verschiedenen Benzylierungsreagenzien. Bei einigen der Reaktionen erfolgte offensichtlich intermediär die Bildung instabiler Benzylmetallverbindungen, doch gelang in keinem Falle deren Isolierung.

Phosphine Complexes of Benzyl Compounds of Nickel, Cobalt, and IronThe benzyl compound BzNi(acac) · PPh3 · 2 O(C2H5)2 could be obtained from Ni(acac)2, Bz3Al, and PPh3 in diethyl ether as a solvent. Using PBz3 and P(C6H11)3 complexes of the type BzNi(acac) · PR3 are formed. In a similar way Co(acac)3 and Fe(acac)3 react to BzCo(acac)2 · 2 PPh3, BzCo · 2 PPh3 · 2 O(C2H5)2 and BzFe · 3 PPh3 · 2 O(C2H5)2 (acacH = acetylacetone; Bz = C6H5CH2).
    Notes: Aus Ni(acac)2, Bz3Al und PPh3 konnte in Diäthyläther als Lösungsmittel die Benzylverbindung BzNi(acac) · PPh3 · 2 O(C2H5)2 gewonnen werden. Bei Verwendung von PBz3 und P(C6H11)3 entstehen Komplexe des Typs BzNi(acac) · PR3. Auf ähnliche Weise wurden aus Co(acac)3 und Fe(acac)3 die Komplexe BzCo(acac)2 · 2 PPh3, BzCo · 2 PPh3 · 2 O(C2H5)2 und BzFe · 3 PPh3 · 2 O(C2H5)2 erhalten (acacH = Acetylaceton; Bz = C6H5CH2).

Benzylation of the Trivalent Titanium, Vanadium, and Chromium AcetylacetonatesBzCr(acac)2, 2Bz(Vacac)2 · Mg(acac)2 and 3BzV(acac)2 · Al(acac)3 were obtained in definite form by reaction of Cr(acac)3 and V(acac)3 with Bz3Al, Bz2Mg, and BzMgCl. Ti(acac)3, reacts with Bz2Mg and BzLi forming deep green Bz3Ti, which could'nt be isolated free of impurities (Bz = C6H5CH2, acacH = acetylacetone).
    Notes: Bei Reaktionen von Cr (acac)3 und V(acac)3 mit Bz3Al, Bz2Mg und BzMgCl wurden als definierte Verbindungen BzCr(acac)2, 2BzV(acac)2 · Mg(acac)2 und 3BzV(acac)2, Al(acac)3 erhalten. Aus Ti(acac)3 und Bz2Mg bzw. BzLi entsteht tiefgrünes Bz3Ti, das jedoch nicht frei von Verunreinigungen erhalten werden konnte. (Bz = C6H5CH2, acacH = Acetylaceton).

Dibenzyl Manganese - Preparation and ReactionsManganese(II) acetylacetonate reacts with tribenzyl aluminium and dibenzyl magnesium forming the yellow complexes 3(C6H5CH2)2Mn · Al(acac)3 and (C6H5CH2)2Mn · Mg(acac)2 Dibenzyl manganese is also formed at the reaction of dibenzyl magnesium or benzyl magnesium chloride with MnCl2 · 1.5 THF and was separated as the dioxan complex (C6H5CH2)2Mn · 2C4H8O2, the ligands of which can be removed to a great extent in vacuum.Dibenzyl manganese reacts with CO2, CS2 and SO2 with insertion into the Mn-C-bonds. The corresponding manganese compounds were isolated and furtherly characterized.
    Notes: Mangan(II)-acetylacetonat reagiert mit Tribenzylaluminium bzw. Dibenzylmagnesium zu den gelben Komplexen 3(C6H5CH2)2Mn · Al(acac)3 bzw. (C6H5CH2)2Mn Mg(acac)2. Dibenzylmangan entsteht auch bei Einwirkung von Dibenzylmagnesium oder Benzyl magnesiumchlorid auf MnCl2 · 1,5 THF; eine Abtrennung von den Magnesiumsalzen gelingt in Form des 1,4-Dioxankomplexes (C6H5CH2)2Mn · 2C4H8O2, dessen Ligandenmoleküle im Vakuum weit gehend entfernt werden können.Dibenzylmangan reagiert mit CO2, CS2 und SO2 unter Insertion in die Mn-C-Bindungen. Die entsprechenden Mangansalze wurden isoliert und näher charakterisiert.

In this way nitro groups containing thermally stable organonickel compounds can be obtained, which cannot be achieved by means of organolithiiim or Grignard reagents. - In a similar way (C2H5)Ni · dipy reacts with to form · dipy.The composition of the compounds achieved was proved by analysis, by characteristic reactions, magnetic moments, and in part by their IR and M spectra.
    Notes: (C2H5)2Ni · dipy reagiert mit Benzylchloriden zu Benzylnickelchlorid-Komplexen des Typs RNiCl · dipy. Auf diesem Wege sind auch Nitrogruppen enthaltende thermisch stabile Organonickelverbindungen zugängig, die mittels Organolithium-oder Grignardverbindungen nicht erhalten werden können. - Auf analoge Weise reagiert (C2H5)2Ni · dipy mit zu · dipy.Die Zusammensetzung der erhaltenen Verbindungen wurde analytisch, durch die magnetischen Momente sowie IR-Daten und M-Spektren und durch charakteristische Reaktionen gesichert.

The manganese compound was characterized by elementary analysis, molecular weight, magnetic moment, ir-spectrum and the course of the thermal decomposition.
    Notes: (C6H6CH2)2Mn reagiert mit NO zu C6H5CH2Mn(NO), einer Mangan(0)-Verbindung, und Dibenzyl. Die Manganverbindung wurde eingehend charakterisiert durch Elementaranalysen, Bestimmung der Molmasse und des magnetischen Momentes, das IR-Spektrum und durch den Verlauf der thermischen Zersetzung.

Synthesis and Properties of 3-(N,N-dialkylamino)propyl Manganese CompoundsMnCl2 reacts with lithium organyls of the type R2N(CH2)3Li with formation of definite organomanganese complexes. The pure [(CH3)2N(CH2)3]2Mn, [(C2H5)2N(CH2)3]2Mn, [(CH2)5N(CH2)3]2Mn and the complexes [(CH3)2N(CH2)3]2Mn · LiCl and Li{Mn[(CH2)3N(CH3)2]3} · 1,5 THF were isolated.[(CH3)2N(CH2)3]2Mn · 2 Li(acac) was obtained as a result of reactions of Mn(acac)2 and Mn(acac)3 with the corresponding lithium organyl.The σ-organomanganese(II) derivatives were characterized in detail by elementary analysis, molecular weight determination, ESR- and IR-spectra, conductivity measurements and the magnetic moments.
    Notes: MnCl2 reagiert mit Lithiumorganylen des Typs R2N(CH2)3Li zu definierten Organomanganverbindungen. In reiner Form wurden [(CH3)2N(CH2)3]2Mn, [(C2H5)2N(CH2)3]2Mn, [(CH2)5N(CH2)3]2Mn und Komplexe der Zusammensetzung [(CH3)2N(CH2)3]2Mn · LiCl und Li{Mn-[(CH2)3N(CH3)2]3} · 1,5 THF isoliert. Ausgehend von Mn(acac)2 und Mn(acac)3 wurde [(CH3)2N(CH2)3]2Mn · 2 Li(acac) erhalten.Die nähere Charakterisierung der σ-Organomangan(II)-Derivate erfolgt durch Elementaranalysen, kryoskopische Molmassebestimmungen, ESR- und IR-Untersuchungen, Leitfähigkeitsmessungen und Ermittlung der magnetischen Momente.

About the Existence of 1-Norbornyl Compounds of Tungsten and MolybdenumReactions of WCl6, WCl4, WO2Cl2, WOCl4, MoCl5, and MoO2(acac)2 with 1-Norbornyl lithium (1-NorLi1)) are described. From WCl6 and WCl4 [(1-Nor)2W]n is formed, whereas in dependence of the solvent WO2Cl2 and WOCl4 are transformed into the complexes Li2[1-NorWOCl4] · THF, Li[WOCl4], Li[WO2Cl2], and Li2[WO2Cl2]. MoCl5 and MoO2(acac)2 are reduced with formation of Li[MoCl5], Li[MoO2(acac)2] and Li2[MoO2(acac)2].  -  Stable (1-Nor)4M-derivatives of molybdenum and tungsten, comparable those of 3d-metals (M = Ti—Co) seem not to exist.
    Notes: Es wird über Reaktionen von WCl6, WCl4, WO2Cl2, WOCl4, MoCl5 und MoO2(acac)2) mit 1-Norbornyllithium (1-NorLi1)) berichtet. Ausgehend von WCl6 und WCl4 wird [(1-Nor)2W]n gebildet, während WO2Cl2 und WOCl4 je nach Lösungsmittel Komplexe der Formeln Li2[1-NorWOCl4] · THF, Li[WOCl4], Li[WO2Cl2] und Li2[WO2Cl2] ergeben. MoCl5 und MoO2(acac)2 werden zu Li[MoCl5], Li[MoO2(acac)2] und Li2[MoO2(acac)2] reduziert. - Den stabilen (1-Nor)4M-Derivaten der 3d-Metalle (M = Ti—Co) vergleichbare Verbindungen des Molybdäns und Wolframs scheinen nicht zu existieren.
