XV Preparation and Properties of Phenyl Vanadium DichlorideVanadium(IV) chloride reacts with diphenyl zinc forming extremely air sensitive, at room temperature stable phenyl vanadium dichloride. The diffuse reflectance spectrum indicates an octahedral structure of the vanadium compound which is to regard as a coordination polymer. - Diethyl ether causes a cleavage of the V - C bond with formation of a vanadium dichloride etherate.
    Notes: Bei Einwirkung von Zinkdiphenyl auf Vanadin(IV)-chlorid entsteht äßerst luftempfindliches, bei Zimmertemperatur stabiles Phenylvanadindichlorid C6H5VCl2, das eingehend charakterisiert wurde. Das Reflexionsspektrum spricht für eine oktaedrische Anordnung der Liganden am Vanadin und damit für die Struktur eines Koordinationspolymeren. Diäthyläther bewirkt eine Spaltung der V-C-Bindung unter Bildung eines Vanadin(II)-chlorid-ätherates.

On the Complex Formation between Boron Triallyls and Tertiary AminesIt is reported on complexes of triallyl, trimethallyl, and tricrotyl boron with N,N-,N′,N′-tetraethylethylene diamine, pyridine, and 2,2′-bipyridyl. Whilst only 1:1 complexes exist with pyridine, 1:1 and 2:1 complexes are formed with tetraethylethylene diamine. Bipyridyl reacts with triallyl boron with formation of the boronium salt [(all)2B(dipy)][B(all)4].
    Notes: Es wird über Reaktionen von Bortriallyl, -trimethallyl und -tricrotyl mit N,N,N′,N′-Tetraäthyläthylendiamin, Pyridin und 2,2′-Dipyridyl berichtet. Mit Pyridin werden stets 1:1-Komplexe, mit Tetraäthyläthylendiamin 1:1- und 2:1-Komplexe von EDA-Typ gebildet. Mit Dipyridyl reagiert Bortriallyl zu einem Boroniumsalz der Formel [(all)2B(dipy)][B(all)4].

    Notes: A discrete model is used to study the behavior of shock propagation, crack formation, and crack propagation of a thin ceramic plate. This plate represents a wall of a channel in a monolithic structure. The model involves a spring-node formulation on a rectangular geometry, which approaches the continuum model correctly when the Poisson ratio is taken as 0.25. Viscous damping is also included. Shock waves originate from perturbations due to local ignition (hot spots), sudden quenching or other changes in operating and driving conditions. The shock wave propagates from the perturbed region. Internodal displacements are used to calculate strains, and the values are compared to a maximum strain associated with failure. Spring constants are set to zero when the maximum strain is exceeded. Reflection of compressional waves from free boundaries as tensional waves leads to enhanced crack formation near the free boundary. Shock waves attenuate much faster when the plate is precracked. Propagation velocities are lower for precracked plates, due to a decrease in (effective) Young's modulus. Velocities of pure compressional and shear waves compare quite well with theoretical values.

On the Existence of Organozinc ChelatesIt is reported on the synthesis, properties, and i.r., 1H n.m.r., and mass spectra of bis-4-methoxybutyl zinc, (CH3OCH2CH2CH2CH2)2Zn and bis-3-ethylmercaptopropyl zinc, (C2H5SCH2CH2CH2)2Zn. Both substances show mainly open alkyl chains. A chelate structure could be proved only in a minor quantity.
    Notes: Es wird berichtet über die Synthese, die Eigenschaften sowie die IR-, 1H-NMR- und Massenspektren von Bis-4-methoxybutylzink, (CH3OCH2CH2CH2CH2)2Zn und von Bis-3-äthylmercaptopropylzink, (C2H5SCH2CH2CH2)2Zn. Beide Verbindungen liegen vorwiegend in der offenkettigen Form vor. Eine Ausbildung von Chelatringen konnte nur in untergeordnetem Maße nachgewiesen werden.

On Reactions of Titanium(IV) Chloride with Trimethylsilylmethyl Aluminium CompoundsTrimethylsilylmethyl titanium trichloride can be obtained by reaction of titanium(IV) chloride with tris(trimethylsilylmethyl)aluminium diethyl ether (1:1). Its catalytic activity for polymerisation of butadiene has been investigated.
    Notes: Trimethylsilylmethyl-titantrichlorid kann in reiner Form durch Umsetzung von Titan(IV)-chlorid mit Tris(trimethylsilylmethyl)aluminium-diäthylätherat gewonnen werden. Die katalytische Eignung der Verbindung zur Polymerisation von Butadien wird untersucht.

Conversion or overall rate of polymerization, viscosimetric average of molecular mass and microstructure of the polybutadiene obtained were determined.
