2,5-Bis-(β-hydroxy-ethylamino)-terephthalic acid is converted by oxidation by means of silver nitrate into an intensively red semiquinone. Therefore, the aminoacid can be used as an indicator for argentometric titrations. The estimation of J-, SCN-, S--, and Tl+ is described.

2,5-Bis-(β-hydroxy-äthylamino)-terephthalsäure geht bei der Oxydation mit Silbernitrat in ein intensiv rotgefärbtes Semichinon über. Infolge dieser Eigenschaft läßt sich die Aminosäure als Indikator in der Argentometrie einsetzen. Es wird über die Bestimmung der Jodid-, Rhodanid-, Sulfid- und Thallium(I)-Ionen berichtet.
