    Description / Table of Contents: The Electro Chemical Behavior of Bimetallic Electrodes and the Application of their Overpotential Curves in Corrosion ResearchA two phase electrode with local cells on its anodic and cathodic surfaces is put into an extern circuit. The polarization voltage depends on (a)the situation and size of the local cell surfaces,(b)the anodic and cathodic processes on the local electrodes,(c)the direction and the current density of the extern current and(d)the situation of the tip of the reference electrode in the solution.The facts nzcntioned above are the basis for an investigation of current doisity-voltage curves of electrodes which are corroded by local currents.
    Notes: Eine Zweiphasenelektrode mit Lokal-elementanbildung auf ihren Anoden-und Kathodenflächen wird in einem äußeren Stromkreis eingebaut; die Messung der Polarisationsspannung hängt ab von: (a)Lage und Größe der Lokalelementflächen(b)Anoden- und Kathodenvorgängen auf den Lokalelektroden(c)Richtung und Stärke des außen angelegten Stromes und(d)Lage des Abzapfpunktes der Bezugselektrode in der Lösung.Die Erörterung der Tatsachen bildet die Grundlage zur Untersuchung von Strom. Spannungskurven von Elektroden, die bei Korrosionsvorgängen durch Lokalströme erhalten werden.

    Description / Table of Contents: The electro-chemical behaviour of oxygen and hydrogen peroxide on magnetite electrodesInvestigations have been carried out on the electro-chemical behaviour of oxygen and hydrogen peroxide on magnetite electrodes by of polarisation curves and time/potential curves where the potentials increase and decrease.In alkaline solutions, oxygen is reduced at a potential close to that corresponding to the process \documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document}$$ H_2 O_2 \mathbin{\lower.3ex\hbox{$\buildrel\textstyle\rightarrow\over{\smash{\leftarrow}\vphantom{_{\vbox to.5ex{\vss}}}}$}} O_2 + 2H^ + + 2e $$\end{document}. Hydrogen peroxide, too, is reduced in concentrated solutions (10-2 M) at the same potential; the electro-chemical process probably concerns the oxygen formed through the decomposition of H2O2. The anodic and cathodic processes are, for H2O2, symmetrical.In neutral solutions, the processes affecting the oxygen and hydrogen peroxide take place with the participation of the redox systems of the iron compounds.The electrode surface is modified during the cathodic and anodic polarisation by means of electron deflections.
    Notes: Es wurde das elektrochemische Verhalten von Sauerstoff und Wasserstoff-Superoxyd auf Magnetit-Elektroden mittels Polarisationskurven sowie Zeit-Spannungskurven, bei denen die Spannungen an- und abklingen, untersucht.In alkalischen Lösungen wird der Sauerstoff bie einer Spannung, nahe der dem Vorgang: \documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document}$$ H_2 O_2 \mathbin{\lower.3ex\hbox{$\buildrel\textstyle\rightarrow\over{\smash{\leftarrow}\vphantom{_{\vbox to.5ex{\vss}}}}$}} O_2 + 2H^ + + 2e $$\end{document} entsprechenden, reduziert. Auch Wasserstoffsuperoxyd wird in konzentrierten Lösungen (10-2) bie derselben Spannung reduziert; der elektronische Vorgang betrifft wahrscheinlich den sauerstoff, der durch die Zersetzung des H2O2 gebildet wird. Die anodischen und kathodischen Vorgänge sind für H2O2 symmetrisch.In neutralen Lösungen finden die Vorgänge, die Sauerstoff und Wasserstoffsuperoxyd betreffen, unter Teilnahme der Redoxsysteme der Eisenverbindungen statt.Die Elektrodenoberfläche wird während der kathodischen oder anodischen Polarisation verändert. Die Oberflächenänderungen werden mittels Elektronenbeugung studiert.

    Notes: A method is described for the determination of the acid and alcohol moieties in long chain wax esters. The co-eluting esters are differentiated by means of CGC-MS operating in the ion monitoring mode. The technique allows to detect ester components present in very low amounts in plant surface waxes.
