Description / Table of Contents: Investigations on the Thermal Stability of Different ZSM-5 ZeolitesThe thermal stability of ZSM-5 zeolites with different crystalform, Na2O content, and different ratio SiO2/Al2O3 was measured by determination of the benzene adsorption capacity of the products after heating at 600-1200°C. The results reveal the influence of the crystal form and especially of the Na2O content on the thermal stability. The thermal stability of ZSM-5 zeolites with the same crystal form decreases with increasing Na2O content. A dependence on the ratio SiO2/Al2O3 in the ZSM-5 zeolites was not observed.

Description / Table of Contents: On the Constitution of Silicate Anions in Cobalt Ethylenediamine SilicateA crystalline and acid-soluble silicate of the composition 1 Co2O3 · 6 en · 7.2 SiO2. 26 H2O was obtained by the reaction of cobalt ethylenediaminehydroxide solution with tetramethoxysilane. Chemical, kinetic, chromatographic, and x-ray investigations showed that this silicate is an acid double four-ring silicate of the formular [Co(en)3]2[H3Si8O20] · 16-28 H2O. The preparation of a cobalt propylenediamine (l,2 and 1,3)-silicate is described.

Description / Table of Contents: Gaschromatographic and 29Si-NMR Spectroscopic Investigations on Silicic Acid TrimethylsilylestersSilicic acid trimethylsilylesters of different constitutions are characterized by gaschromatographic retention index and retention temperatures. It is shown that the retention indices of the esters depend mainly on the number of trimethylsilylgroups in the molecule and exhibit only small effects of the constitution of the silicic acid framework. The 29Si-n.m.r. spectra of 9 silicic acid TMS-esters of different constitutions are recorded and the assignment of the signals to the individual building units of the esters are discussed. On the basis of these results the constitutions of hexamer silicic acid-TMS-esters is investigated. Two isomers of the bicyclo-hexasilicic acid ester [(CH3)3Si]10 [Si6O17] could be identified.

Description / Table of Contents: On the Preparation and Constitution of the Compound 3 CaO · 3 GeO2 · H2OIn the temperature range from 100-∽450°C it is possible to prepare under hydrothermal conditions from equimolar mixtures of CaO and GeO2 the compound 3 CaGeO3 · H2O. By n.m.r. measurements of the solid compound it is shown, that there are only OH groups and no molecular water. It seems to be probable that this compound is a trigermanate of the formula Ca3H2 [Ge3O10].

Description / Table of Contents: 29Si-N.M.R. Spectroscopy of Silicate Solutions. V. On the 29Si-N.M.R. Spectra of Low-molecular Silicic AcidsThe 29Si-n.m.r. signals of the end groups of di- and trisilicic acid (each in 0,5 M aqueous solution) are lying in a very close neighbourhood (Δδ = 0,03 ppm). In more concentrated solutions (1.5M) the end group signals approach to oneanother and overlap respectively in such a strong manner, that their unambiguous assignment and, hence, the identification of the low-molecular condensation products of monosilicic acid are up to now not possible.
In konzentrierten 1,5 m Lösungen nähern bzw.

Description / Table of Contents: Investigation on the System SrO—SiO2—H2OOn addition sodium silicate solutions to solutions of Sr(OH)2, at room temperature strontium hydrogensilicates are precipitated which are always amorphous and contain silicate anions of various condensation degrees. At about 100°C at first also amorphous products are formed containing lower- and higher-molecular silicate anions. On standing of these precipitates at about 80°C under the mother liquor, however, cristallization occurs under complete degradation of the higher-molecular anions to monomeric resp. dimeric silicate anions. In dependence on the Na2O: SiO2 ratio of the sodium silicate solutions and on the Sr(OH)2 concentrations the following crystalline compounds are formed: 1.25 SrO · 1 SiO2 · 2 H2O, 3 SrO · 2 SiO2 · 3 H2O and 3 SrO · 2 SiO2 · 4 H2O, with monomeric silicate anions; 2 SrO · 2 SiO2 · 1.5 H2O; 2 SrO · 2 SiO2 · 2 H2O, and 2 SrO · 2 SiO2 · 3 H2O, with dimeric anions.

Description / Table of Contents: On the Influence of Admixtures on the Hydration of Tricalcium Silicate (Ca3SiO5)The influence of several compounds (alcohols, ketones, organic acids and the ir salts, cation exchange resin) on the hydration of tricalcium silicate was investigated by means of differential calorimetric analysis (DCA). The acceleration and retardation of this reaction found in these experiments are discussed on the basis of Ca(OH)2 solubility, the pH of the solution and the rate of conversion of a C—S—H rich in CaO into a C—S—H poor in CaO at the surface of the C3S grains.

Description / Table of Contents: On the Course of the Reaction between CaO and Quartz under Hydrothermal Conditions in Suspensions at 190°CThe rate and the products formed intermediately of the reaction between CaO and quartz under hydrothermal conditions at 190°C depends on the grainsize resp. the surface area of the quartz and the CaO/SiO2 ratio. Using quartz with a surface area of 2 000 cm2/gr α-dicalciumsilicate monohydrate is formed primarily which is converted directly to Xonotlite in the further course of the reaction. On the other hand the use of quartz with a surface area of 12 000 cm2/gr leads at first to an amorphous calciumhydrogensilicat which gives 11 Å-Tobermorite in the second stage of the reaction which is converted at last to Xonotlite too. In the presence of calcium or magnesium carbonate the hydrothermal reaction between CaO and quartz shows the same dependence from the surface area of the quartz. But instead of Xonotlit Scawtite is formed as the stable finale product of this reaction in that case.
