    Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Hexaminkobalt(III)tricarbonatokobaltat(III) (A) wurde zur Jodidbestimmung verwendet. Dabei wurde die Wirkung von anwesendem Chlorid und Bromid — einzeln und gemeinsam — untersucht. Die Bestimmung von Sulfid, Sulfit und Thiosulfat mit A als volumetrisches Oxydationsmittel wurde beschrieben. Die bestimmbaren Mengen liegen zwischen 5,84 mg und 195,0μg mit einer maximalen Standardabweichung von 0,91 %, zwischen 24,85 mg und 249,0μg mit einer maximalen Standardabweichung von 0,39% bzw. zwischen 12,60 mg und 126,0μg mit einer maximalen Standardabweichung von 0,64%.
    Notes: Summary Hexamminecobalt(III) tricarbonatocobaltate(III) has been used for the determination of iodide. The effect of chloride and bromide, individually and collectively, have also been studied. The determination of sulfide, sulfite and thiosulfate, respectively, with Co(NH3)6Co(CO3)3 as volumetric oxidimetric titrant has been demonstrated. The respective quantities determined are from 5.84 mg to 195.00μg with a maximum standard deviation of 0.91 %, from 24.85 mg to 249.00μg with a maximum standard deviation of 0.39 %, and from 12.60 mg to 126.00μg with a maximum standard deviation of 0.64%.

    Notes: Abstract An integral domain D is a FC domain if for all a, b in D, aD∩bD is finitely generated. Using a set of very general and useful lemmas, we show that an integrally closed FC domain is a Prüfer v-multiplication domain (PVMD). We use this result to improve some results which were originally proved for integrally closed FC domains (or for coherent domains) to results on PVMD's. Finally we provide examples of integrally closed integral domains which are not FC domains.

    Notes: Abstract Let R be a commutative integral domain. An element x of R is calledrigid if for all r,s dividing x; r divides s or s divides r. In our terminology, R issemirigid if each non zero non unit of R is a finite product of rigid elements. We show that semirigid GCD domains have a type of unique factorization, and are a known generalization of Krull domains.

    Notes: Abstract Genetic and cytogenetic investigations of two unstable Y-linked translocations in Anopheles culicifacies indicate that crossing over can occur between the X and Y chromosomes in this species. Moreover, these observations suggest that the long arms of the X and Y chromosomes are homologous and that the sex determining mechanism(s) is located in the short arms.

    Notes: Summary The breeding system of Solanum integrifolium has been studied with the view of setting up a breeding programme. Three flower types are distinguished on the basis of style length. The results of crosses among these types have elucidated that only long-style flowers are female-fertile. The medium and short-style flowers are unable to set fruits. Some of the flowers, irrespective of their stylar morphism, also exhibit male sterility which is uncommon in Solanum. The biological significance of the stylar heteromorphism has been discussed in relation to evolutionary trends in the genus and the probable cause of this phenomenon speculated upon.

Im Bereich zwischen 45,85 mg und 334 μg beträgt die relative Standardabweichung in 5-n Salzsäure 0,71% bzw. 0,01%. Ni(II), Mn(II) und Cr(III) stören innerhalb der vorgeschriebenen Grenzen nicht.
    Notes: Summary Cobalt (III) acetate prepared in glacial acetic acid has been utilized for the potentiometric titration of molybdenum(V) from 45.85 mg to 334 μg with a maximum relative standard deviation of 0.71% and 0.01% respectively in5N HCl. The method is convenient and rapid. There is no interference by Ni(II), Mn(II) and Cr(III) within the limits prescribed.

    Description / Table of Contents: Die Kinetik des Abbaus von Cellulosetriacetat wurde im Chloroform/Acetanhydrid-Gemisch in Gegenwart von Perchlorsäure oder Schwefelsäure als Katalysator untersucht. Die zeitliche Änderung des Molekulargewichts wurde viskosimetrisch verfolgt, unter Verwendung der Maronschen “Einpunkt-Methode” zur Erimittlung der Grenzviskositäten sowie der zugehörigen Mark-Houwink-Konstanten für das Chloroform/Acetanhydrid-Gemisch. Die Abhängigkeit der Geschwindigkeitskonstante 1. Ordnung von der Konzentration des Katalysators, des Acetanhydrids und des Cellulosetriacetats sowie vom Molekulargewicht des Polymers und der Temperatur, wurde untersucht. Die Erklärung der Ergebnisse beruht auf der katalytischen Wirksamkeit von H+ und Ac+ (Acetyliumion) bei der Abbaureaktion, die bereits in ähnlichen Celluloseacetat-Systemen von früheren Autoren beobachtet wurde.
    Notes: The kinetics of the degradation of cellulose triacetate in chloroform/acetic anhydride mixtures containing a perchloric or sulphuric acid catalyst was studied. The change in molecular weight with time was followed viscometrically, employing Maron's singlepoint method to evaluate limiting viscosity number values and using appropriate Mark-Houwink constants for the chloroform/acetic anhydride mixtures. The dependence of the first-order rate constant on concentration of catalyst, acetic anhydride, and cellulose triacetate, as well as polymer molecular weight and temperature was investigated. An explanation of the results, based on both H+ and Ac+ (acetylium ion) acting as the catalytic degradation species, is given; this is also shown to account for the degradation behaviour in similar cellulose acetate systems observed by previous workers.
