Processes of metallic diffusion in the electrode surface of ∊-and γ-copper-zinc-alloys.Under the conditions of the potentiostatic experiments (non-aqueous solutions, small overpotentials, medium time range) the current at alloy electrodes of ∊- and γ-(Cu, Zn) was determined by the solid state diffusion, which could be separated in bulk (D) and grain boundary diffusion. The numerical evaluation, which is based on the reversible potentials of ∊- and γ-(Cu, Zn), led to constant diffusion coefficients, only if the grain diameter and the grain boundary width were supposed to change during the experiment. In interpreting the results the structural differences of the sample materials (quenched, in part annealed, sintered or electro-deposited), had to be taken into account.

Unter den Versuchsbedingungen (nicht-wäßriger Elektrolyt, kleine Belastungen, mittlerer Zeitbereich) ist der potentiostatische Stromverlauf an Legierungselektroden der Phasen ∊- und γ- (Cu, Zn) allein durch die Metalldiffusion bestimmt und these in Volumen (D)- und Korngrenzendiffusion (D′) separierbar. Eine quantitative Auswertung auf der Basis der bekannten reversiblen Potentiale der Phasen liefert nur dann konstante Diffusionskoeffizienten D und D′, wenn angenommen wird, daß die Korngröße und die Korngrenzenbreite sich während der Versuche ändern können. Außerdem muß die Interpretation der Ergebnisse die Gefügeunterschiede der Probenmaterialien (erschmolzen and z.T. getempert, ersintert oder galvanisch abgeschieden) berücksichtigen.
