    Notes: The instrumental transparency functions of five commercially available texture goniometers were measured experimentally with six monocrystalline samples cut in different orientations from a large highly perfect silicon crystal with a rocking curve of less than 0.01°. Transparency functions were measured in steps of 0.02 to 0.2° in the pole-figure angles α, β. The window size Δα depends on the Bragg angle θ in the form 1/sinθ; the window size Δω is constant for each goniometer. The dominant instrumental parameter determining the long axis Δα of the pole-figure window is the axial width of the detector entrance slit. This parameter is smallest for area detectors (smaller by more than an order of magnitude compared with conventional scintillation detectors as well as one-dimensional position-sensitive detectors). The main features of the pole-figure window and their dependence on the instrumental parameters can be deduced fairly well from a simple geometrical model. The particular shapes of the transparency functions of the studied goniometers are markedly different. Particularly, they are not very well represented by Gauss functions. The two-dimensional transparency function can be fairly well characterized by its α and β profiles. The normalized profiles are virtually independent of the goniometer angles 2θ and α. The increasing size of the pole-figure window with decreasing θ puts a lower limit on the Bragg angle below which pole-figure measurement ceases to be meaningful.

    Description / Table of Contents: 38 Dialkylesters of o-phthalic acid are examined as plasticizers for polyvinyl chloride. The plasticizer efficiency is determined by means of dielectric measurements for the molar plasticizer concentration c = 0.1. In the case of isomeric esters the n-alkylesters always have the highest plasticizer efficiency while with the n-alkylesters the efficiency increases proportionally with the length of the alkyl chain. The influence of chain length and branching of the alkylgroup also shows itself in the viscosity of the pure plasticizer. From the graphical representation of the relationship between plasticizer efficiency Δ T and viscosity η conclusions may be drawn concerning the structure of the alkyl groops.
    Notes: 38 o-Phthalsäuredialkylester werden als Weichmacher für Polyvinylchlorid (PVC) untersucht. Die Weichmacher-Wirksamkeit wird, wie in früheren Arbeiten, mit Hilfe dielektrischer Messungen bestimmt, für die molare Weichmacher-Konzentration c = 0,1. Bei isomeren Estern hat der n-Alkylester immer die höchste Weichmacher-Wirksamkeit und bei den n-Alkylestern steigt die Weichmacher-Wirksamkeit mit der Länge des Alkyls linerar an. Die Länge und Verzweigung des Alkyls macht sich auch in der Viskosität des reinen Weichmachers bemerkbar. Die Kombination von Weichmacher-Wirksamkeit Δ T und Viskosität in dem Diagramm Δ T = f (η) führt zu Hinweisen auf den strukturellen Aufbau der Alkyle.

Die vollständigen Orientierungsverteilungsfunktionen wurden bestimmt und scharfe (111)-Fasertexturen gefunden. Die Messung der Dehnungen erfolgte unter streifendem Strahleinfall. Zur Berechnung der Spannungstensoren wurden sowohl texturgewichtete elastische Moduln als auch texturunabhängige elastische Moduln verwendet. Die Bedeutung der Texturmessung für die Spannungstensorbestimmung wird diskutiert. Die gefundenen Spannungen können als thermisch verursacht verstanden werden.
    Notes: Ion-platted thin copper films were examined for residual stresses and texture by X-ray diffraction. The complete orientation distribution functions were determined and sharp (111)-fibre textures were found. The strains were measured by grazing incidence diffraction. The stress tensors were calculated using both texture-weighted elastic compliances and texture-independent X-ray elastic constants. The importance of the texture measurement for the stress tensor determination is discussed. The found stresses can be interpreted as thermally induced.

    Notes: The lifetime of cation selective carrier-PVC-membranes partially depends on the components' remaining in the membrane. An exchange of monomeric by polymeric plasticizers with low tendency to migrate lengthens the function time drastically. Other than for Na+ - and NH4+-selective membranes, it is essential for K+ - and Ca2+-selective membranes and optional for H+-selective membranes to incorporate lipophilic anions in order to make the phase transfer catalysis more efficient. The resistence to saponification of phthalic acid polyester gives H+-selective membranes a high stability of measured values even in the alkaline range.For anion selective PVC-membranes, instead of cation selective plasticizers the plasticizing qualities of a liquid charged ligand should be used.The tubular carrier-PVC-membranes of our ion selective flow through measuring systems are diffusion welded to the ends of two PVC-tubes [1] so that they are absolutely tight with no risk of potential leakage. Migration of the membrane components plasticizer and ionophore across this border as well as their extraction [2, 3] into the measuring solution [4] will naturally reduce the membrane's functionning time [5].

The incorporation of the alkynyles into a spectrochemical series of the axial ligands (studied by the sharp equatorial-ligand-to-metal CT absorption band) results in the wavelength-sequence (nm): OH- (≍ 510) « N3- (≍ 625) 〈 tBu—C≡C- (664) 〈 NH3 (666) 〈 Ph—C≡C- (692) 〈 Ph—NH2 (695) 〈 Me3Si—C≡C- (698) 〈 SCN- (713) 〈 Ph3Si—C ≡ C- (716) 〈 CN- (739) 〈 4-picoline (759) 〈 pyridine (765) 〈 nicotinamide (776) 〈 methylnicotinat (788) 〈 pyrazine (798) and points to a significant π-acceptor ability of the silyl substituents.

    Description / Table of Contents: A New Contribution to the Phosphazo ReactionThe reaction of acrylonitrile with phosphorus pentachloride gives ClCH2CCl2CCl2NPCl3 (I) and a hexachlorophosphate with the composition C3H2Cl14NP3 (II). For the first time the structure of (II) has been exactly determined by using 1H- and 31P-NMR-spectra. The course of reaction was studied in detail. 3-chloropropionitrile has been found as the product of a secondary reaction. The reaction of butyramide with PCl5 has also been investigated, and was found to be analogous.
    Notes: Bei der Umsetzung von Acrylnitril mit PCl5 entsteht neben ClCH2CCl2CCl2NPCl3 (I) auch das Hexachlorophosphat mit der Zusammensetzung C3H2Cl14NP3 (II). Die Struktur von (II) konnte durch 1H- und 31P-NMR-Untersuchungen erstmals eindeutig bestimmt werden. Der gesamte Reaktionsablauf wurde untersucht. Infolge einer Sekundärreaktion entsteht u. a. 3-Chlorpropionitril. Die Umsetzung von Butyramid mit PCl5 wird ebenfalls beschrieben. Sie zeigt einen analogen Verlauf.
