Description:
Article Hybrid rice varieties are bred using male-sterile maternal lines, which are unable to self-pollinate. Here, the authors show that mutations of the tms5 gene, which codes for RNase Z S1 , result in the accumulation of ubiquitin fusion ribosomal protein mRNAs at high temperature to confer genic male sterility.
