Conclusions A study was made of the phase formation in heat-treated alumina fibers without additives and with the addition of SiO2, MgO, and Cr2O3. It is established that the addition of these oxides and their combinations retards the conversion of the transition forms of Al2O3 which are unfavorable for the strength properties of alumina fibers, into the stable α-form. The causes of the phenomenon observed are connected with the change in the concentration of the point defects of the structure governing the stated inversions with the addition of impurity oxides to the fibers made of Al2O3.
